Notice from Quincy Elections Department

On June 1, 2026, the City of Quincy was required by law to designate voters as inactive if an annual census was not returned. As a result, 22,286 voters were moved to inactive status.

Inactive voters may return to active status at any time by completing an Affirmation of Current and Continuous Residence, submitting a new voter registration form, or providing a signed confirmation of their current address to the Election Department, under penalty of perjury. All inactive voters will receive a postcard in the mail with the opportunity to return to active status.

Being inactive does NOT remove your right to vote, but it is important to update your status to ensure your voter information is current. Maintaining active status helps avoid delays at the polls.

Check your voter status by visiting: www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR/ or by calling (617)-376-1144. To learn more about inactive voting, visit: [www.sec.state.ma.us/divisions/elections/voting-information/inactive-voters.htm]www.sec.state.ma.us/divisions/elections/voting-information/inactive-voters.htm

Annual Census Reminder!

Voters that have not responded to the 2026 street listing (census) by June 1st, 2026 will be designated as "INACTIVE" on the voting rolls. Inactive voters remain registered to vote until they fail to vote in two consecutive biennial state elections. Inactive voters are restored to the active voters list any time they complete an Affirmation of Current and Continuous Residence, fill out a new voter registration form, or submit anything to their local election official which is signed under penalty of perjury and confirms the voter's address.

⚖️ What is a District Attorney?

District Attorneys represent the government in criminal cases. They decide who gets charged with a crime and determine how most criminal cases are resolved. Their job is not simply to win cases, but to pursue truth, uphold the law, and protect the rights of all involved.

Quincy Votes! had our monthly member meeting today where we celebrated our co-founder Liz Speakman, who recently stepped down from her role as President of the board. Although we’ll miss her trailblazing leadership and many contributions, we are so proud of everything she has helped us build.

But with bittersweet goodbyes come new beginnings. We also welcomed Kathy Geraghty as our new Interim President and discussed our upcoming plans, including voter outreach for the Norfolk County District Attorney race.

⭐️ ANNOUNCEMENT: Our President and Co-Founder, Liz Speakman, has decided it's time to pass the torch. She is stepping down from her role as President and from the Board, effective May 8.

Although we'll miss her trailblazing leadership and many contributions, we are so proud of everything she has helped us build. Thank you, Liz Speakman for everything you have done to shepherd Quincy Votes!

Stepping up as Interim President is our Vice President Kathy Geraghty, who you may recognize from the 2025 Candidate Forums.

Come join Liz and other Quincy Votes! supporters next Saturday, May 16th, at 10:00 am on the second floor Classroom at the Thomas Crane Public Library, at our next member meeting.
