Our boy-led Troop 599 doesn’t just march in the AV Christmas Parade, they arrive before the sun rises to help set up the parade route.

This has been an honor that Troop 599 has taken on for many years, and every year the boys are cheerful in helping their community.

Scouting is Everywhere.

Today, Troop 599 Scouts are spending Veterans Day in service — honoring those who have served and protected our country.

This morning, our Scouts placed flags at veterans’ graves to show respect and remembrance. Tonight, they will return to help retire those same flags with the same care and gratitude they were placed.

Scouts also placed flags at the homes of community members who help support the troop through our year-round Flag Service Program, where we place and retire flags on important U.S. holidays.

As Scouts, we know our freedom isn’t free — it’s safeguarded by the courage and sacrifice of our veterans. Today, we say thank you for your service and your example.

Troop 599 Service & Fundraising in Action:
Today, Troop 599 Scouts rolled up their sleeves for a tumblew**d cleanup on Mr. Hailstone’s property off 50th Street West — earning funds to support future Scouting adventures while putting the Scout Law into action.

What looked like a simple cleanup was a powerful reminder of what Scouting truly is: service, teamwork, and leadership in motion. Every w**d cleared helped fund the next hike, campout, or merit badge that shapes tomorrow’s leaders.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, worked hard, and represented Troop 599 with pride. 💙

Parents, alumni, and community members — your experience and support help make moments like these possible. Join us in keeping Scouting strong and full of adventure for the next generation.

Tonight, Troop 599 honored our nation’s symbol with a Flag Retirement Ceremony — a solemn tradition of respect and gratitude. 🇺🇸

Through each salute, flame, and moment of silence, Scouts learned that patriotism is more than words — it’s shown through service and care.

Red Rock Campout 2025:
🏕️Tents up, boots dusty, and skies full of stars. This weekend our Scouts hiked the trails, carved pumpkins under the desert moon, and proved again that adventure and friendship go hand in hand.

👍A special shout-out to Life Scout Nathaniel, who checked off the final requirements for his Camping Merit Badge—one step closer to earning his Eagle Rank!

🪢Scouting isn’t just weekends outdoors—it’s about perseverance, leadership, and finding confidence with every mile hiked and every goal reached.

Keep going, Scouts. The trail to Eagle starts with moments like these.

Parents…One of the easiest hacks to keep Scouting from feeling overwhelming, and it doubles as a motivator for your Scout is to create a family calendar.

🎯 Purpose:
• Keep parents and Scouts on the same page about upcoming deadlines.
• Track progress toward ranks, merit badges, and boards of review.
• Reduce last-minute scrambling (uniforms, camp gear, sign-offs).
• Make accomplishments visible + motivating.

Here’s how it could be set up and what it might look like:

🛠️ Tools You Can Use:
• Google Calendar: sharable with reminders, color-coded events.
• Dry-Erase Wall Calendar: month-at-a-glance in the kitchen.
• Printable Monthly Planner: paper version with icons/stickers.
• Combination: some families use a wall calendar + Google reminders.

📅 Example Setup (Color-Coded):
Categories & Colors:
🔵 Campouts / Outings
🟢 Boards of Review / Courts of Honor
🟡 Merit Badge Classes / Deadlines
🔴 Fundraisers / Service Projects
🟣 Advancement Deadlines (Eagle apps, MB blue card deadlines)

👀Visually:
• Google Calendar: each category is its own color, with 2-day reminders (“Pack check for campout,” “Uniform ready for BOR”).
• Dry-Erase Calendar: use colored markers + stickers (🏕️ tent for campouts, 🎓 cap for Boards of Review, 🛡️ badge icon for MB deadlines).
• Printable Tracker: attach a badge progress chart on the side (“In Progress: Swimming MB, Citizenship MB. Completed: First Aid MB”).

🔑 Pro Tips
• Add recurring reminders: “Troop meeting – every Wednesday @ 7pm.”
• Post in kitchen or family command center: visible to both Scout & parent.
• Give your Scout ownership: let him mark off completed merit badge requirements or add his own reminders.
• Celebrate progress: when a badge is finished, put a ✅ sticker on that day.
