The primary mission of the Office of Multicultural Student Services (MSS) is to facilitate the best undergraduate experience for multicultural students through the provision of culturally relevant programs and services that foster their successful transition, adjustment, persistence, achievement, and graduation. The Office of Multicultural Student Services (MSS) seeks to promote a campus community

that fosters the holistic development of multicultural students by providing relevant services to support their academic pursuit, expressing genuine care for their personal development and well-being, advocating on their behalf and encouraging the full use of all university resources. MSS programs and services promote the understanding of and appreciation for cultural and ethnic differences recognizing the importance of global interdependence and sustainability. MSS maintains on-going cooperative relationships with students, faculty/staff, alumni, parents and the community, builds a community of support for the successful matriculation and retention of our students.

Our Office of Multicultural Student Services is hiring for our next team members!

Washington State University seeks two dynamic Retention Counselors to join the Chicanx/Latinx Student Center team and our Undocumented Student Center team to support our commitment to student success and equity. In each of these roles, you’ll directly impact student retention and community building.

Closing Date: Monday, December 2nd (applications must be received before this date)

Salary: $3,750.85 - $5,585.10 per month, based on qualifications and experience.

After over 31 years at WSU, J. Manuel Acevedo has announced his retirement. He served as the Director of the Office for Multicultural Student Services (MSS), is the creator of the nationally recognized Team Mentoring Program (TMP) and has served on several assessment working groups. In his many roles at WSU, Manuel has been unapologetically committed to students' transition, persistence, and graduation, focusing on minoritized and underserved populations. His legacy of commitment to student success is unmatched. He has been a valued colleague and friend and has worked tirelessly to make WSU a better place for all.

Please join us in a reception on the Pullman campus to celebrate Manuel’s career and contributions.
