About Us:
Sunstone Youth Group (SYG) is a vibrant and supportive community for LGBTQIA+ youth in Southern Colorado. We create safe spaces where young people can explore their identities, build friendships, and help youth run their own programs. Our group focuses on empowerment, creativity, and personal growth through various activities and programs. We provide resources, support, and opportunities for youth to develop leadership skills while connecting with peers who share similar experiences.

SYG Updates – TLDR Pausing SYG Until Fall
We wanted to let our community know that, during our June 1st Board Meeting, the Board voted to pause all Tuesday Sunstone Youth Group (SYG) meetings for the summer. We plan to return in the fall.

This break gives more time to focus on restructuring our entire organization, completing board training, and making much needed improvements based on the feedback we’ve received from our community. This is so we can strengthen our programs and better serve our youth.

Thank you all for your understanding, patience, and continued support of our youth space. We’re excited to come back this fall with a stronger foundation, more support and new committees. More updates will be shared as they become available.

This month, we celebrate the strength, joy, resilience, and diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community. Pride is about being yourself, supporting one another, and creating a world where everyone belongs.

To our q***r youth, families, and sunstone community members: you are valued, you are loved, and you deserve to be seen.

SYG Update:
We’ve decided to cancel Prom for this summer due to admin trainings, restructuring, and needed changes within our programs and leadership structure. Prom will return this fall.

We know this may be frustrating or disappointing, especially for Youth Council members who usually help organize Prom. We appreciate all the work and care that has gone into SYG events, and we want to take time to build stronger communication, support, and structure moving forward.

Because of this, SYG Youth Council will also be going on hiatus until the fall while we work on rebuilding structure, expectations, leadership support, and planning processes. Syg Tuesdays group will still go on as usual.

Instead of Prom this summer, we will be holding a Youth Council meeting with the board on July 19th. This meeting is meant to help create better understanding, open communication, and space for discussion about the future of SYG and Youth Council.

We will also be holding an open to the community Committee Meeting on July 19th for future planning and organizational work.

IMPORTANT SYG UPDATE
Due to a lack of available counselors at this time, Sunstone Youth Group (syg) meetings on 5/19 and 5/26, including Movie Night at Ethos on 5/28, will be canceled.

4 of our counselors are currently unavailable due to family emergencies and the passing of family members. Our hearts are with our counselors and their families during this difficult time. ❤️

We will be taking a short break and plan to resume programming on June 2nd, 2026. Thank you all for your understanding, patience, and continued support of our youth space.

We’ve got a full lineup of events this month at Sunstone Youth Group and we’d love to see you there.

Every Tuesday we’re gathering together, and each week has something a little different depending on what folks are feeling.

April 7 – Craft Night (5–7pm)
A chill, cozy space to make things. We’ll have coloring pages, yarn, hooks, paints, and more. You’re always welcome to bring your own projects too.

April 14 – Climate Workshop (5–8pm)
Jo is back leading a workshop focused on climate anxiety in honor of Earth Month. Good space to learn, talk, and process together.

April 21 – Wildcard Night (5–7pm)
This one’s up to the youth. Come through and help decide what we do.

April 23 – Movie Night at The Ethos (6:30pm)
We’ll be watching The Secret of Kells together.

April 28 – Q***r Talk (5–8pm)
Presentation night. This month’s theme is nature, but honestly bring whatever topic you’re passionate about.
