Another vibrant Pueblo-Proud mural is complete! We just wrapped the seventh Past, Present, Paint! visual storytelling and mini-mural workshops. We partnered with Pueblo City-County Library District, bringing together 160 community members who made their mark on the Pueblo! We would not have been able to reach into each neighborhood without the incredible support from our grantor, Arts in Society!

All seven branch murals, along with our community mosaic mural, will be on display at the Rawlings Library starting First Friday, June 5th, and running through July 31st! Be sure to stop by and see your work on exhibition!

This one-hour virtual conversation features world-renowned artist, activist, and philosopher Tlisza Jaurique. She will discuss the importance of acknowledging inherited Indigenous ancestry and tradition within the Chicanoan community. Jaurique is a contemporary interdisciplinary artist whose work is prompted by conceptual concerns, including change, language, and interpretation/understanding regarding power, nothingness, and death. It was an honor to have knowledge keeper Tonio LeFebre join us, sharing his work on the Piro language project that he has so passionately invested in for more than a decade. With the support of our community partner, Pueblo City-County Library District, supported by funding from our grantor, Arts in Society, we were able to record this critical conversation for posterity. Watch, learn, enjoy, and share!

Katrina Urenda delivered another stunning mural for the Barkman Library Branch. These murals emerge from story-sharing and conversations about what community means to our participants at Past, Present, Paint! events. We have had over 100 community members show up across Pueblo County for this incredible partnership program with the Pueblo City-County Library District, made possible by our generous grantor, Arts in Society. Check out our events page for information about the upcoming session, Past, Present, Paint! Greenhorn Library.

Spectators, by Tonio LeFebre, is an experience of spectatorship during Pueblo Piro/Tiwa ceremonial events. Starting from the present time, the viewer walks back in time as they move inward towards the back of the gallery. When the viewer reaches the central wall, they will be standing in the perspective of the earliest Spectators. This exhibition features paintings, drawings, and ceremonial garments of the Piro/Tewa tradition.
