Meet the filmmakers:
Introducing Kyle- 1/3 of the Freedom Collective co-founders!

Prior to serving 30 years of a life sentence, he was a musician and artist. While incarcerated, he became a criminal justice advocate, educating others in the law, and advancing new educational opportunities in the system.

Presently, he’s leaning back into his artistry, working as a Care Manager, and speaker, while advocating for impacted individuals to use their experience as experts to inform, deconstruct, and change systems that have historically failed society.

Meet the filmmakers:
Introducing Steven- 1/3 of the Freedom Collective co-founders!

He entered prison at 17 years old and served seven days short of 30 years, coming home at 47. While incarcerated, he became an artist, educator, and advocate. That is where he learned how to organize, how to fight for people, and how important it is for those directly impacted by the criminal justice system to have a voice in the decisions that affect our lives.

Most of his work comes back to two things: how we treat human beings while they are incarcerated and how little support we provide when they come home. He often says that incarceration is his first language. Freedom is his second, and he is still learning how to speak it.
