Meet the filmmakers!
Introducing Dani:

After 11 years of incarceration, Danielle returned home determined to use what she had learned—not just to rebuild her own life, but to help change the systems that make reentry so difficult. During her incarceration, she worked in the law library, pursued her education, and developed a passion for criminal justice advocacy and storytelling. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Change, along with certifications in Criminal Justice and Case Management.

Now, Danielle is reconnecting with her creativity and using her lived experience to help tell the stories that are often overlooked. As part of the RI Freedom Collective filmmakers group, she is helping create a documentary about reentry, bringing a firsthand perspective to the conversation about what it really means to come home.

Kyle and Mario facilitated an epic Freedom Pack Giveaway in collaboration with Garden Time and their green reentry program. The packs included a giftcard, new laptop and medical kit.

This giveaway was so special because both Kyle and Mario work for Garden Time and their program helped them while they were incarcerated and in their own reentry process. 🌱🫶

RIFC and RCP have been in Las Vegas at the FICPFM conference. We met up with colleagues and friends to come together and collaborate on how we can all provide more resources and opportunities for justice impacted people in our communities.

Meet the filmmakers!
Introducing Michael:

Michael was a youth with very little parental guidance. He grew up in a gang and drug infested area and quickly became a product of his environment. He was incarcerated since he was a minor, learning to work the streets and survive without being caught until mid 20s, when he had two young children at the time. He served about 10 more years in the Rhode Island ACI. He now has been out for 8 years with the same skills and determination he is doing everything possible to be involved and inspire others in the community to turn his experience into something positive, volunteering time to the youth and multiple programs and community movements.
