Spring is here, and so are NBG and moon hikes! Meet at the Rochambeau Gate at 8:30 PM, and use the free parking on North Main Street. Dress for the weather, and wear sturdy shoes.

The moon is a fickle friend this time of year, so we'll keep everyone posted on weather changes to the program, but (knock on wood) the weather looks great!

The ninth annual Ghost Tour, held this past Saturday night, was a huge success. Over 150 people attended, on four separate tours. They visited Sarah Helen Whitman in her seance tent and saw her receiving mental dictation from Edgar Allan Poe. They then went on to visit a number of graves in the cemetery and hear the stories of some of the amazing men and women who are buried there.

Here are a few photos from the evening. (Photo credits to Levi Lionel Leland and Joshua Rex.) If you have a photo you’d like to share, please do so in the comments.

As twilight falls, professional actors portray some of Providence’s most fascinating residents whose lives reflect moments of transformation and upheaval.

At the center of the evening is Sarah Helen Whitman, writer, critic, and spiritualist once engaged to Edgar Allan Poe. Whitman worked tirelessly to preserve Poe’s legacy and, in life, was known for hosting séances in her Providence home. On this special evening, Whitman will invite guests into her séance tent to share stories of spirits and her fascinating past.

The Ghost Tour is one of Providence’s most beloved Halloween traditions, offering history, theater, and a touch of the supernatural.

Admission is free, but reservations are required. You can find the reservations on our website, and the link is in our linktree in our bio,
