Rhode Island is facing a growing Alzheimer’s and dementia crisis — yet we remain one of the only states in the nation without dedicated state funding for dementia-specific services and support. In this opinion piece, our State Government Relations Director Meredith Sheehan, discusses why Senate Bill 2874 sponsored by Senator Lou DiPalma and House Bill 7542 sponsored by RI State Representative Julie Casimiro is so important and how establishing a full-time Dementia Services Coordinator could strengthen care, support caregivers, improve coordination, and better prepare our state for the future.
