Monday marked a historic milestone for New Jersey’s energy future as Governor Mikie Sherrill signed the Power NJ Act into law.

The New Jersey Energy Policy Coalition was proud to be on hand for the bill signing alongside many of our members and partners, including the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, NJBIA, PSEG, and IBEW Local 94, to witness this important moment for our state’s energy future.

The enactment of the Power NJ Act represents a significant step toward strengthening New Jersey’s long-term energy reliability by advancing new baseload generation, including the opportunity to develop advanced nuclear energy. As electricity demand continues to grow from AI, data centers, advanced manufacturing, and electrification, New Jersey must invest in reliable infrastructure capable of delivering around-the-clock power while supporting economic growth.

This legislation positions New Jersey to attract tens of billions of dollars in private investment, create thousands of construction jobs, and establish careers that will benefit New Jersey families and communities for generations to come.

We commend Governor Sherrill, her administration, and the Legislature for their swift action in advancing this landmark law. We also thank the many Coalition members who have worked tirelessly to advocate for policies that prioritize reliability, affordability, economic development, and an all-of-the-above energy strategy.

NJEPC President Erick Ford was honored to be quoted in Governor Sherrill’s official announcement recognizing the importance of this legislation and what it means for New Jersey’s energy future.
