CP Pool Update: Friday, 8/28
As a result of Thursday's heavy rainstorms, a tremendous amount of sediment, mud and organic debris ran off into the main pool and kiddie pool. Both pools had to be completely drained. Due to the size of the main pool and length of time required to make it operable and safe for swimming it will not be feasible to reopen that pool this summer.

Staff has worked hard to get the kiddie pool back up and running and anticipates that it will be open this weekend. The dive well was not impacted by yesterday's storm.

Going forward through the remainder of the summer we will utilize the dive well for a combination of lap swim, recreational swim, dive boards and slide. It is not possible to have all of those activities happen at one time, however so staff will schedule those areas throughout the day.

The kiddie pool & dive well will reopen on Saturday, 8/29. Schedules to follow.
The concession stand will be open this weekend, as well.

The Princeton Recreation Department was saddened to learn of the recent passing of former PRD Executive Director, Don Barr. Hired by Princeton’s Joint Recreation Board in 1964 to manage the newly formed Recreation Department, Don was the department’s first executive director, a position he held until his retirement in 1991. At the time of his hiring, Don was also the department’s first full-time staff member. Among his many accomplishments, Don was instrumental in getting the original Community Park Pool built in 1967. He was also a past president of the New Jersey Recreation and Park Association and was a legendary figure in NJ Parks & Recreation community. His legacy continues to live on in the parks, facilities and recreation programs he helped to create, as well as the many people he mentored during his career.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.
