Open To: Youth in grades 8–12 (4-H, schools, & youth organizations)

Calling all club leaders!

Elevate your 4-H club meetings with an exciting opportunity to integrate fun and engaging food science experiments. Join our hands-on virtual workshop, where Linda Perucca from the Chicagoland Food Science Foundation will guide you through tasty activities that bring food science concepts to life.

Discover the art of product development with a potato chip seasoning lab, craft ice cream in a bag right from home, and enjoy demonstrations on creating bubble gum and rock candy. Plus, registered participants have the chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card to stock up on supplies for your club.

From reading recipes to mastering kitchen terms, explore interesting ways to get creative with ingredients and make tasty meals. We will meet for six weeks, learning new skills to create delicious food, ending with a dinner party where you can invite one adult guest. Illinois Extension 4-H and OSF HealthCare are partnering to bring this great program to you.

Starting October 5th, 2026, from 4-5:15 p.m., we will meet at the Second Story Teen Center in Princeton to learn new skills in the kitchen. We are limited to the first 15 participants in 5th-8th grade, so don’t wait to sign up.

Heads up! Registration opens Sept. 1 for this fun 4-H field trip on Oct. 6 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Boggio’s Orchard. Only 40 spots are available, so mark your calendar to register!

Explore the apple orchard and pumpkin patch while learning about the apple cider-making process. Open to all ages, but K-12 youth must register. Adults may join if space allows.

Selected participants will showcase their businesses or projects at the 2026 Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in Chicago and have their hotel and registration covered.
