BAYS BRANCH: Village by the C&O Railroad, 2 miles south of Auxier and 3 miles north of Cliff. 1/5 miles east of Old US 23, serviced by Auxier post office.

BEAVER: post office established May 4, 1877 with Hamilton Reynolds as post master, according to the National Archives. According to Mary Hall, April 23, 1914, this post office was 13 miles south of the Big Sandy River, 3 miles northwest of the Damron post office, 100 yards from Big Mud Creek, 6 miles southeast of Craynor post office, 3/4 miles from the county line. According to Nora E. Matthews on July 24, 1939, the post office was 1/2 air mile and 3/4 road mile from the Pike County line, 4 miles east of US 23, 2 miles east of Ligon railroad station, 2 miles west of Teaberry post office, 2/5 miles north of Biscuit post office. According to the 1895 Gazette, it had a population of 10.

BANTY: post office established August 20, 1898 with Joseph A. Patton as post master. Dissolved effective July 31, 1900 with papers to Alphoretta according to the National Archives.

According to Joseph Allen Patton, June 10, 1898, this proposed post office would be 2 miles northeast of Alphoretta, 5 miles west of Big Sandy River. Another name had been proposed for it but this was not known. Henry Scalf had never heard of it either according to notes of May 16, 1971.

A few headstones were cleaned at the Newman Cemetery today by myself (Tabitha Wallen) and my children. Three stones are marked with pink flags as they are unstable on their bases. Should anyone visit, please do not touch at risk of further damage to the stones or injury.

BANNER: According to Malone Hall, April 8, 1898, the proposed name for this new post office was Critt and it would be 6 miles south of Dwale post office, 2 miles from the Big Sandy River and on Prater Creek.

According to Robert Hall February 11, 1904 the post office was 2.5 miles south of Dwale post office, nearly 4 miles north of Dana post office, 4.5 miles west of the Tram post office, 100 yards south of the Big Sandy River and 150 yards north of Prater Creek, 100 feet from the C&O and serving a village of 60.

By September 8, 1905, the post office was serving the Mouth of Prater, 150 feet south of Big Sandy River and 250ft west of Prater Creek, 2 miles east of Allen post office, 4 miles west of Tram post office 2.5 miles north of Dana post office 330 ft north of C&O.

According to I.N. Hall on September 22, 1939, the post office was 1000 feet south of Big Sandy River, 2.5 miles west of Ivel post office.

Robert Hall ran a store 1 mile up Prater Creek in the 1890's. Store was rebuilt circa 1924 by the Meade Brothers and Robert's son Isaac at the mouth of Prater, next to the railroad. The post office was operated in his home near the tracks. His daughter, Linnie Walsh Hall became post office on May 15, 1902. She died later that year. Named for Banner Leslie, the 1st area teacher. He was brother to Anna Leslie Hall who was the wife of Robert's brother Malon. David Banner Leslie is listed in the 1900 Floyd County census as living in the Dwale precinct (included Banner).
