In Eastern Kentucky we celebrate not only our talented, local musicians but all of our local artists. You can find may works of art sprinkled along the Country Music Highway that tell the stories of each town.

These are a few examples you can find in Russell, KY (by Madeline Tipton The Tipton Creative, LLC) and in Ashland, KY (23 Quilt Mural by Dustin York, Country Music Highway Mural by Madeline Tipton).

Many more outdoor murals and other works of art can be found in Eastern Kentucky. We receommend taking a road trip to see as many as you can.

Not only is all this live music and entertainment happening along the Country Music Highway this weekend, but there is also a 40 mile long yard sale going on the 11, 12, and 13th in Pike and Letcher Counties along Highway 805/610/122.

That's something you'll ONLY find here, in Eastern Kentucky.

We can’t wait!!

Fifteen-time GRAMMY® Award winner Ricky Skaggs will release new music for the first time in more than a decade when his new single, “Say A Prayer,” arrives on all digital platforms on June 26 via Skaggs Family Records (distributed by Virgin Music Group).

Written by Gordon Kennedy and Ben Cooper, “Say A Prayer” combines country, bluegrass and rock influences with instrumentation that includes sitar, fiddle, mandolin and banjo. The song was written in response to the challenges facing communities around the world and centers on themes of faith, reflection and unity.

"I’m incredibly excited to share my new single, ‘Say A Prayer,'" says Skaggs. "The song addresses a world carrying a lot of grief right now, serving as a universal call for everyone to stop and lean into faith. It’s got a chorus that resonates with faith, country and rock audiences alike.”

“Say A Prayer” will be available on all streaming and digital download platforms on June 26.

The Iconic Carcassonne Square Dance is Saturday night. Door will open for dinner at 5:30 pm. Music will begin at 6:00 and culminate with our traditional Virginia reel by 9:00 pm.
Music by Bluegrass Friends, with caller Will Bowling.
The menu for the night is a pulled pork or pulled chicken dinner, with a variety of BBQ sauces available.
Dinner includes a drink and dessert, for $8.00.
We have a wonderful playground for kids, and cakewalk(s) around 7:30.
Admission for adults is still $5.00, students 6-18, $3.00, and children under 6 are free with a paying adult.
Come join us for a night of friendship, food, and traditional music and dance.

Wynonna Judd is bringing her "Kentucky Queen Tour" with an intimate performance at the historic Paramount Theater Ashland . This exclusive engagement marks the last stop of a limited, three-city run celebrating her album “The Hard Truth” which releases October 2.

A live music event like no other right here along the Country Music Highway.

Saturday, June 13, is the tenth annual Singin’ Gatherin’ Old-Time Music Day event at the beautiful McConnell House in Wurtland, Kentucky.

Event begins at 1:00 PM and runs until 7 PM. The historic home is the perfect setting for the outdoor concert on the side porch which is a beautiful main stage for the music.

The tall, old trees provide shade all afternoon and there is always a breeze that keeps everyone comfortable. Greenup Arts is proud to partner with the McConnell House and our local old-time music friends, Kentucky Memories to keep alive an event that actually started in 1932 with the American Folk Song Festival.

Come sit a spell and enjoy some good old fashioned music this Saturday.
