The Prescott Film Festival would not be in existence if not for a number of extraordinary volunteers who give fully of themselves each year. It pains us not to be able to highlight the contributions each individual brings to the success of the Festival, but are proud to present the extraordinary women who keep the VIP Director’s Loft running smoothly from morning to night. Their tireless dedication is most appreciated!

After an unqualified success, it was a pleasure to eat a fantastic spread sponsored by Chef Barry Barbe and his three Prescott restaurants — El Gato Azul, Torme and Shirley’s Urban Eats. We are extremely appreciative of your continued support!

The 16th Annual Prescott Film Festival enjoyed an incredible penultimate day yesterday. Starting off with a workshop on the movie BILLY JACK, which was filmed in the Prescott town square. It was led by Professor Kevin Sandler from ASU’s film school who talked about the significance of the 1971 film to almost 60 people.

Next up was the documentary BEYOND GODOLPHIN: THE HANK JONES STORY, about the Disney musician Disney movie & TV star and accomplished genealogist, Hank Jones. This was preceded by a heartwarming short by Alex Astrella EXTRAORDINARY CHARACTERS about special needs students who create a live play based on the book “Stellaluna”.

The day’s program ended with Buster Keaton’s GO WEST! at the Elks Theater with live accompaniment by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra, which created a unique and compelling movie experience to a full house.
