💜 There’s a lot happening this October!

Our DVAM Calendar is packed with opportunities to get involved, show your support, and stand with survivors throughout the month.

From community events and fundraisers to education, awareness, and some really special partnerships, there are so many ways to join us. 🌿

Take a look at the calendar, save the dates, share it with your friends and family, and come be part of it!

Whether you attend an event, make a donation, share a post, start a conversation, or simply help us spread the word, every action helps bring domestic violence out of the darkness and reminds survivors that their community stands with them.

We hope to see you throughout October! đź’ś

For over a year, I have sat quietly while members of our community—as well as local businesses, churches, schools, first responders, and professionals—have been humiliated and placed under a harsh public spotlight through social media.

I believe in speaking the truth and standing up for what you believe is right. But it should never be done in a way that intentionally harms, humiliates, or encourages others to ridicule someone.

Targeting individuals who are grieving the loss of loved ones, struggling with health conditions, or already carrying unimaginable pain is deeply inhumane. No one deserves to have their most painful experiences placed on a public platform for judgment or entertainment.

It has been difficult to remain silent while watching people in our community be hurt. Still, this is not a call for anger, retaliation, or an uproar against anyone. Responding with more cruelty will never create the change we need.

This is a call for kindness, courage, and unity. Let us stand together—not against one person, but for one another. Let us support those who feel alone, speak up for those who feel they have no voice, and refuse to participate in the humiliation of others.

Together, we have a voice. Let us use it to reflect the community we have truly built—one that serves, protects, encourages, and cares for its people. May our words bring light rather than darkness, healing rather than harm, and unity rather than division.

This is our Home 🧡🖤

Please be on the Lookout for this Husky!

We’re fostering a husky from Goochland County animal shelter, and he got out today. He was last seen off Academy, near BSH. We’ve called him “Bear” the last two weeks he’s been with us, but he’s very skittish around people and likely won’t come when called. If you see him, let me know!

In Powhatan County, parents are urging the county, through a petition, to take action by limiting screen use in school. Their main concerns are the non-educational sites and games students have access to during school hours.
