Child Airlifted Following Reported Fall From Horse in Powhatan County

Powhatan County, Va. — A child was airlifted to an area hospital after reportedly falling from a horse in Powhatan County this evening, according to sources.

Sources tell us the incident occurred in the 2200 block of Huguenot Trail, where the child reportedly fell from the horse.

According to sources, the juvenile was airlifted by MedFlight to an area hospital, though the extent of the child’s injuries is unknown.

The Powhatan Sheriff's Office has received reports that a jury duty scam is once again circulating in our area.

Scammers are calling residents, claiming to be deputies with the Powhatan Sheriff's Office and stating that you have missed jury duty and now owe money. They then instruct victims to make an immediate payment using Venmo, gift cards, or other electronic payment methods.

Please remember: The Powhatan Sheriff's Office will NEVER call you and demand payment over the phone for missed jury duty, warrants, fines, or any other legal matter. We will also never ask you to pay using Venmo, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or similar payment methods.
