We had a very enjoyable and successful July 4th Picnic and Parade!

Carl Von Patterson was our official photographer and he has placed 54 photos in Drop Box. To view the photos click on this link https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fdlp0nk33seccld/AACIHiy8PJHnLlcSo_zjloW9a?dl=0. You can save or print any of interest to your family.

With the planning and work leading up to this successful celebration many hours were expended by many people. We had contributions from current trustees, past trustees, neighbors and others. As usual, those who spent time soliciting prizes from area merchants spent days and hours obtaining the various contributions for the raffle. Of course who will forget the flurry of activity to successfully move our celebration from Monday to Saturday! While the forecast for rain on Monday has lessened, We simply could not afford the chance of dangerous lightening and rain.

As you can see below many worked hard to make this possible.
HACA Trustees:
Julie Biesiadecki – solicitation of merchants for raffle prizes
Matt Dickens – MC, raffle award announcement, use of truck to move items, set up of picnic
Brian Quelette - solicitation of merchants for raffle prizes, set up picnic, purchasing food, cooking hot dogs
Carl Von Patterson - solicitation of merchants for raffle prizes (including Nissan Sentra & Romance Package), event photographs, set up of picnic
Sarah Sanders – organizing and managing raffle, Facebook posting, HACA Newsletter announcement, set up picnic, arranging Face Painter
Harold Snyder – signs, use of home for picnic items and signs, sale of memberships and raffle tickets, providing shelters, set up picnic, parade with Corvette

Past HACA Trustees:
Nicole Showalter – sale of raffle tickets, sharing grill
Judy Hunter - solicitation of merchants for raffle prizes, arranging /managing food table, set up of picnic
Jan Hayden – baked beans, getting Mike Blankenship to lead parade with his motorcycle, purchasing children’s prizes for parade

Neighbors:
Chris Hopkins and daughter, Gabby – baking the beans when Jan could not attend on the changed date, judging the children for prizes
Brad and Sarah Coy – use of front yard to house the Castle Jumper
Cynthia Kalinoski – sharing ice water jug, her home’s water and electricity
Mike Blankenship – for leading the parade with his motorcycle
Michelle Patterson – event photographs
Carol Kipfer – membership and raffle sales
Scott Sanders - set up picnic, cooking hot dogs
Mark Showalter – sharing grill, picking up and transporting grills
Keith and Marci Conkling – participating in parade with 1953 Studebaker

Others:
Karen Gorski – placing 650 American Flags at homes and others at the entrances

If I have missed anyone, I apologize. Certainly, there were others helping and the whole community shared in this special event.
Kindness, community spirit and sharing were evident at this special celebration.

Thank you to all.
Kip Kipfer
HACA President

Please consider joining your HACA (Highbanks Area Civic Association) trustees this coming Thursday evening (May 26) at 7:00 pm at the Orange Township Library for our annual meeting. ALL residents of Green Meadows, Highmeadows Village, Heather Lane, Fox Ridge, and Sycamore Meadows are encouraged to attend. We currently have 3 OPEN SPOTS for new trustees. YOU can volunteer! Just contact Kip Kipfer at 740-657-3636. It isn’t that big of a time commitment, and you’ll have the opportunity to help make our neighborhood an even better place to live! We will review last year’s activities, make plans for the coming year, share a financial report, and elect trustees. We will hold an open discussion about community involvement, the need for more volunteers, and how best to maintain our safe, pleasant neighborhood. HACA sponsors the Spring Garage Sale, the July 4th Picnic and raffle, the clean-up of our Green Meadows entrance, and the Holiday Lights contest. It’s a big job! We’d love to see you there.
