💜 Part of the 25 year healing journey called The Love Quest was academic.

💜 As a college Junior I became pregnant which was the impetus of the intimate partner violence I experienced. I also had to pause my studies and enter the workplace to take care of my responsibility.

💜 25 years later I was awarded with my initial degree I started out to get August of 1999 at my alma mater as a student of Hillyer College and the College of Arts & Sciences thanks to Dr. Josie Brown, Dean, College of Arts & Sciences and Hillyer College (pictured here), the Office of the President, Office of Alumni Engagement and more.

💜 I am grateful that I was able to finish what I started and want to encourage anyone who faced barriers in their academic journey and/or overall healing journey anything is possible for you too.

💜 Homecoming weekend started off with the 30-year anniversary of the Gospel Choir where I was a former member.

💜 As campus safety is under question with current events that are very common, those who have experienced traumatic situations on campus may not want to celebrate the same way as others or at all.

💜 I am grateful for Dr. Lois Lindsey, former Director of Multicultural Programs for her impact on the entire student body as we navigated complex situations while we were away from home.

💜 Dr. Delois Lindsey continues to be a safe space and is also featured in our debut documentary. I return to campus annually because of the village that surrounded me and continues to surround me.

💜 Think you have to have lived experience with intimate partner violence or other forms of violence/abuse to have empathy, share resources or use your voice for good?

💜 Think again. Attendees of our private screenings have been sharing their testimonials on the impact of our documentary with or without personal experience.

💜 On the eve of October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month we will spend the month sharing clips of our post documentary q&a’s, immersive experiences featuring our youth participants and students, podcasts, behind the scenes and more.
