SCDJFS Mobile Unit Schedule for Oct 22-23, 2024 - Hurricane Helene Disaster Relief Program

Scioto County Job & Family Services is traveling to communities to distribute Hurricane Helene Disaster Relief applications. The mobile unit will be in these areas for 1 hour and then moving on to the next location. There will be staff on board to assist those wanting to apply for disaster relief. The mobile unit/shuttle bus will say “Mobile Career Center” on the side.

Job Title: Part-Time Maintenance Person
Organization: Portsmouth Inner City Development
Location: Portsmouth, Ohio
Position Type: Part-Time (20-25 hours/week)
Reports to: Acting Executive Director or Administrative Director

Job Overview:

Portsmouth Inner City Development is seeking a dedicated and experienced part-time Maintenance Person to assist in maintaining and improving housing units. The role involves performing routine repairs, ensuring safe and habitable conditions in homes, and responding to maintenance requests in a timely manner. This position is ideal for someone who has experience in many areas of home maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform general repairs and maintenance tasks such as carpentry, drywall, plumbing, electrical, lawncare and painting.
Conduct regular inspections of homes to identify areas needing maintenance or repair.
Respond to maintenance service requests in a timely and professional manner.
Assist in maintaining common areas and building grounds (e.g., mowing, trimming, snow removal).
Repair or replace appliances, fixtures, and other equipment as necessary.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes.
Coordinate with external contractors for larger repair or renovation projects as needed.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Collaborate with the Directors to prioritize and schedule repairs.
Provide excellent customer service to residents, ensuring their homes remain safe and livable.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in home maintenance, general repairs, or construction.
Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.
Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve various home repair issues.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with housing maintenance in a nonprofit or affordable housing setting.
Certifications in relevant trades or skills (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) are a plus but not required.

Compensation:
Up to $15, commensurate with experience.
Flexible work schedule.
