In this initiative, ORN partner organizations American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP), Columbia Psychiatry, Council on Social Work Education, and NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals, in collaboration with National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. and Affiliates - NBCC, will provide the following curricula to be available to master’s-level behavioral health students, clinicians and educators (e.g., in counseling, social work, etc.) and beyond:
🔸 "Addiction Treatment: Clinical Skills for Healthcare Providers"
(SAMHSA Prac-Ed grant): This course equips clinicians with skills to prevent, identify, and treat substance use disorders through model cases and techniques from seven Yale instructors, covering screening, diagnosis, treatment management, and referrals, ultimately preparing them to offer compassionate, evidence-based care for patients with addiction.
🔸 "SUD for the Healthcare Team" (SAMHSA Pcss-Moud grant): This introductory course, developed by AAAP and PCSS-MOUD, offers essential information for healthcare staff about substance use disorders, focusing on the history and treatment of opioids, stimulants, and other substances through four comprehensive modules.
Note: These courses also offer continuing education credits for social workers, nurses and nurse practitioners, physicians, physician associates, and other learners (i.e., ICPE and AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™) provided by AAAP.
