Portland Hui Lin Temple sincerely announces that on Sunday, October 5th, at 9:00 AM, we will hold the “Blessing and Disaster-Dispelling Dharma Assembly of the Medicine Buddha of the Eastern Pure Lapis Lazuli World, attended by Bodhisattva Sunlight Radiance and Bodhisattva Moonlight Radiance.” We warmly invite all respected Dharma brothers, benefactors, and virtuous practitioners to participate in this practice and to make offerings with sincere devotion.
This Dharma Assembly will be presided over by the Venerable Root Guru, Vajra Master Yundan Trinley Dorje Rinpoche, who will guide all pure disciples in accordance with Vajrayana teachings to practice the “Sadhana of the Medicine Buddha of the Eastern Pure Lapis Lazuli Land.” Through mantra recitation, meditative visualization, and the use of mudras, practitioners will offer boundless merit to the sacred assembly of enlightened beings, seeking their blessings to dispel disasters, cure illnesses, and extend life.
The Venerable Root Guru has taught:
• The “Sadhana of the Medicine Buddha of the Eastern Pure Lapis Lazuli Land” is a ta***ic practice. Through receiving the Guru’s empowerment, oral transmission, and practice instructions, practitioners are able to accomplish the complete path of practice.
• To properly engage in this practice, one must establish a pure and dignified inner and outer mandala, as described in the sadhana, and make offerings of incense, lamps, flowers, and treasures to gather auspicious connections with the Dharma realm. This is one of the key methods of Vajrayana practice.
• Vajrayana practice emphasizes inner contemplation, supported by the outer mandala in accordance with Dharma principles. The key is to maintain purity of mind and focused concentration, keeping body, speech, and mind pure, free from distracting thoughts, fear, or disrespect. Following the sadhana’s guidance, one visualizes entering the Pure Lapis Lazuli Land of the Medicine Buddha, a realm of purity and magnificence.
• When practicing, one must avoid distraction regarding the Pure Land and Dharma realm. With a mind that is sincere, pure, and focused, one recites the mantra while joining it with heart mudras and secret mudras. The resulting power is beyond imagination.
• Engaging in the sadhana requires a proper request for Dharma, which grants the right and qualification to practice. The process also depends on the Guru’s empowerment, oral transmission, and blessings in order to cultivate true accomplishment.
• The Guru also explained: the images of the yidam (deity), Pure Lapis Lazuli Land, bodhisattvas, and Dharma protectors described in the sadhana can be relied upon for visualization. However, the mudras, secret gestures, and details of inner contemplation must be received through the Guru’s direct oral and experiential transmission of ta***ic instructions.
