So excited to support traditional Irish music and make it accessible to audiences here in the Portland area.

ICSPNW is at the Bellingham Celtic Festival showcasing some of the projects of the Cumann Curaí na gCumar, Gaeilge Northwest, Sean-nós Northwest and Féile Portland. We’re particularly proud of the currach project and the excitement and enthusiasm it has created here!

Cumann Curaína gCumar | Currach Community of the Confluences is showcasing the currach and coracle made by hand by Tigard’s Steve Carrigg and acquired through support by the Irish Cultural Society of the Pacific Northwest. CCC is fundraising to pay for this amazing craft and the expert labor required to build it. Follow the link to support this project. Go raibh míle maith agaibh a chairde!

Now that the dust has settled from Sean-nós Northwest 2025, the Irish Cultural Society of the Pacific Northwest is setting its sights on a few new projects including assisting Cumann Curaí na gCumar - Currach Community of the Confluences with their Portland Currach Project. Funds generated by this year’s festival will be directed to cover some of the materials and labor needed for the building of their currach. They’re half way to their fundraising goals and have a great GoFundMe campaign set up with pictures and updates about their journey. Consider donating and sharing their campaign with your networks (https://gofund.me/b432b392). If you’re in the Portland area, mark your calendar for their official launch on Saturday, August 2nd - tunes, rowing, and a cook out along the Willamette! Go nearta Dia a gcuid oibre!

Delighted to be sponsoring Sean-nós Northwest and excited to see how the Portland community shapes this unique festival. Check out guest fiddler Danny Diamond!

Sean-nós Northwest is only 12 DAYS AWAY! Are you ready for a fun-filled weekend featuring a public concert, all-sets céilí, weekend workshops, evening social events, and more?!

We’re delighted to have fiddle maestro Danny Diamond with us at this year’s festival. Danny comes from a musical family from Derry and Belfast but with deep affinity with the Donegal fiddle tradition. He has spent the greater part of his life learning, researching, collaborating, and performing music with a wide variety of musicians, singers, and dancers from the Irish tradition and beyond and has worked extensively at the Irish Traditional Music Archives in Dublin. Danny will be offering workshops on the Donegal fiddle tradition, fiddle technique and repertoire, and will present ‘The Long Road to the Glenties,’ a film restoration project focusing on famed Donegal fiddle legend Johnny Doherty.
