This girl right here is in charge of all schedules, activities and general movements of anyone or thing that breaths at Working Dogs Oregon. She says when any one being may eat, drink or sleep. You want to walk over there, better ask permission first. God knows you should not dare drive a car down our street without first checking in.

With this said, if she has fully vetted and approved your existence there will be no more loyal soul to you than her! She loves her people and if you mess with one of her puppies, which is all WDO puppies, she will cut you, disfigure you and feed you to her army of pet rats. They are not pets voluntarily, she usually sacrifices 2 or 3 per week to keep them in line!

Now you know who you are required to impress at the WDO compound!

Oh ya, and she says you need to donate to our GoFundMe currently running and listed in our bio!

Remembering Officer Chris Kilcullen : Husband. Father. Hero.

Yesterday, April 22, 2026, marks the 15th anniversary of Eugene Police Officer Chris Kilcullen’s line of duty death. In honor to never forget the sacrifice Officer Kilcullen and his family made, Working Dogs Oregon has named a puppy in his honor. Cullen is a 12 week old Chocalate Labrador Retriever training to become a law enforcement comfort dog. To comfort officers and staff after events as impactful as the incident that took the life of his namesake, to comfort victims and wittnesses of horrific crime and to be steadfast in connecting community members with the officers who serve them. Officer Kilcullen is remembered by so many for the way he treated people with respect, dignity, and compassion, it only seems right we honor his dedication to the citizens he protected with a resource that embodies exactly what Chris is remembered for.

While getting permission from Chris' father John to use his son's name, we learned that prior to becoming a police officer Chris was a radio DJ on the Eugene-Springfield airwaves and went under the on-air name of "Cullen", so the amended version fit perfectly.

~ The incident ~
Officer Chris Kilcullen, 43, was shot and killed during a traffic stop on I-105 and 52nd Street in Springfield, Oregon on Friday, April 22, 2011. Officer Kilcullen had initiated a traffic stop of a reckless driver, who ran a red light. The driver, age 56, fled and Officer Kilcullen pursued her into Springfield on Highway 126. The vehicle swerved around several cars that were waiting at a red light at 52nd Street. The suspect’s vehicle was stopped and as Officer Kilcullen approached the vehicle, he was hit when the suspect suddenly fired a handgun, fatally wounding him. The suspect continued to flee and was pursued by numerous local officers for 35 miles to a forest road near Westfir, where she finally stopped. She remained in her car for several hours during a standoff until finally being taken into custody.

Officer Kilcullen, a 12-year veteran, had a remarkable career with 85 commendations, even from drivers he stopped. He won employee of the month awards in May 2004 and June 2008 after conducting the most investigations, arrests, traffic citations and field interviews among Eugene police officers. He moved to the traffic unit in 2005 and was a longtime member of the department's crisis negotiation team, saving many lives. Officer Kilcullen left behind a wife, two children, a cousin who was like a sister, sister Colby, brother Cory, his father, John Kilcullen, and step mother Sherrie, many friends and coworkers, and a community that loved him.

OR Highway126, from the intersection at 6th and 7th Streets in Eugene to the intersection at East Main Street in Springfield, has been officially named in honor of Officer Kilcullen. Senate Bill 987, approved in May 2011 by the Oregon Legislature, directed the placement of markers along the highway with the memorial designation. A total of four signs are now located at each end of the highway, and where I-5 joins the highway in each direction.

Raising Heroes Comfort Program Puppy Cullen has 9 to 12 more months of training before he will report for duty at an Oregon Law Enforcement agency. Until then he has a team of dedicated volunteer puppy raisers guiding him in his journey.

Cullen joins three other puppies in this puppy class and they are already thriving in this journey. As always Working Dogs Oregon never charges for our serves and we donate the fully trained comfort dogs to the agencies who receive them.

If you would like to assist in our efforts to raise Cullen and his classmates, we have an active GoFundMe where we would greatly aporeciate your kind support!

Today would have been K9 Hanks 8th Birthday. In 2022 Working Dogs Oregon Donated Hank to the Portland Police Bureau where he faithfully and fearlessly served until February of 2025. He had lost his spark but nobody knew it was cancer. He past away in his sleep last fall.

On his very first night with PPB K9 Hank was credited with the apprehension of three criminals attempting to evade capture from law enforcement.

Hank was one of my favorite dogs we ever donated. He had joy in his work, love in his heart and passion like I have never seen in another pup. Not to mention he had one ear that flopped at the tip and it may have been the most adorable trait ever!

I know Hank is in heaven patrolling the clouds biting any rouge demons Satin sends to mess with Saint Peter at the gate!

RIP K9 Hank, you shall always be remembered as one of the best and brightest whose light was snuffed prematurely, but you made your mark!

The lovely Mrs. WDO is celebrating her 61st birthday today. She is the biggest anomal lover as you can see in this video interacting with everything from a 1,000 lb Lion to a 2000lb cow and everything in-between. Obvioysly her favorite animal is the dog. In the last 8 years we have had over 50 dogs do extended stays in our home and she falls in love with every single one of them.... this video makes that obvious!

Happy Birthday Baby, I love you! A real canvas version of the last picture is on its way!

🎉🐾 Today is Mrs. Working Dogs Oregon’s birthday! 🐾🎉 Aka Jennifer
And if you ask her what she wants most… it’s simple:

She wants every single puppy in our current Raising Heroes class to be fully funded.
Right now, these future heroes are counting on all of us:

🐶 Angus – Black Lab (19 weeks)
🐶 Watson – Goldendoodle (17 weeks)
🐶 Cullen – Chocolate Lab (16 weeks)
🐶 Lola – Golden/Labradoodle (10 weeks)

These pups are on a mission much bigger than themselves—serving the communities they are destined for much like those who came before them who have served or are serving communities across Oregon, including Albany, Canby, Central Point, Cottage Grove, Eugene, Pendleton, Portland, Springfield, Tualatin, Woodburn, Lane County, Multnomah County, Union County, and Yamhill County.

They support incredible partners like Kindness 911 , Oregon State University, University of Oregon, Willamette Family Inc., and more—bringing comfort to law enforcement, students, victims, and those in treatment and recovery.

From the moment they enter our program to the day they’re placed, it costs approximately $7,500 per dog to cover training, gear, food, veterinary care, and travel.

👉 And remember: Working Dogs Oregon is 100% volunteer-run. Nobody gets paid. Every dollar goes directly to the dogs.

💙 Want to do something truly special for Jennifer’s birthday? Help sponsor a hero.
We currently have Raising Heroes Puppy Sponsorships available for individuals and businesses. Sponsors receive:
✔️ The honor of ceremonially handing the leash to the dog’s new department
✔️ Custom, one-of-a-kind Working Dogs Oregon apparel
✔️ Social media recognition and shoutouts
✔️ Ongoing puppy updates and visits

Every dollar brings these pups one step closer to changing lives across Oregon.

👇 Please consider donating today through our GoFundMe campaign: gofund.me/f41942ef5
Let’s make her birthday wish come true—and fully fund this entire class of future heroes. 🐾💙

You may have seen a post last week from the Woodburn Police Department showing Working Dogs Oregon Comfort Puppy in training Lola. Well she has learned to fly and is perfecting the rest of her superpowers as she prepares herself for duty! But her real superpower will be her ability to love all unconditionally and equally! She is Lola, the four paw'd Supergirl! 💙
