TJWK Portland

TJWK Portland TJWK is a charity effort started in Toronto, working to help the orphans of the 2011 earthquake in Japan. This is a page for its Portland division.

Think of Japan While Knitting is a Toronto-originated project working to help the orphans of the 2011 earthquake in northern Japan. We make small motifs (using a pattern designed specifically for this project) with donated yarns and sew them into small items, which we offer for sale. 100% of the sales proceeds go to Ashinaga Ikueikai, a non-profit that provides financial assistance for these child

ren's education. We think of Japan as we make these products, and hopefully you will think of Japan every time you use them. The disaster is not over; the children's lives must go on. And thus our thoughts stay with them. We welcome donations of any length of leftover yarns of wool or other animal fibers in sport, DK or worsted weight. Of course, whole skeins of yarns would be greatly appreciated! Or if you would like to contribute to the purchase of yarns, the ultimate proceeds will be many times your donation!! We kept pretty quiet in the last several months, but I wanted to do a little update on what's going on: It's a very late announcement, but we sent 92,000 yen (approx. $761) in donation from three events in 2014. The money went to Ashinaga Ikueikai to help orphans' education in Japan. Currently, TJWK Portland is taking a break from the activity while we look into a different process of running it. We'll make an announcement when we find a plan. Thank you very much for your support!
本日は皆様にご報告です。前回のご連絡から時間が空いてしまいましたが、まず始めに、昨年一年間で行った3回のイベントの売り上げを、日本円で92,000円あしなが育英会へ寄付させていただいていますのでご報告させてください。
現在の活動ですが、色々と去年と状況が変わったため、これからどういう風に活動を続けていくか模索中です。関わってくださっている皆様と相談し、早めにこれからのことを決めたいと思います。皆様の暖かいサポートとご理解、ありがとうございます。

Thank you all for stopping by last Saturday at PJG charity event! TJWK Portland raised $255 that day. $51 (20% of the proceeds of the day) went to Peace Jam through PJG. The rest of the money is going to Ashinaga Ikueikai as usual.
先週のPJGチャリティイベントにお立ち寄りいただいた皆様、ありがとうございました!　当日は$255の売り上げでした。その内2割の$51はPJGを通じてPeace Jamさんへ寄付させていただきました。残りの8割は通常通りあしなが育英会さんへ寄付させていただきます。どうもありがとうございます!!!

今日はWilsonville在住の友人がモチーフ編みの集まりのために自宅を提供してくれました!　どうもありがとう☆　新商品、クッションカバーを製作中です。おそらく5月のイベントでは2、3点しか用意出来ないかとは思いますが･･･。お楽しみに♪

We have two(!) sale events in May! The first one is on Saturday, May 17 at Richmond Elementary School's Spring Festival from 11am to 4pm, and the second one is on Saturday, May 31 at Portland Japan Girls Charity Event at Kale Restaurant downtown from 11am to 3pm! Stay tuned!
早速ですが、来月の販売イベントのお知らせです。5月は二つ開催します!　一つ目は5月17日(土)に行われるリッチモンド小学校のスプリング･フェスティバル、時間は午前11時より午後4時まで。二つ目は5月31日(土)、ダウンタウンのKaleレストランにてPJGによる東日本大震災復興支援チャリティイベント、時間は午前11時より午後3時までです。詳細はまた後ほどこちらでご案内します。ブースで販売のお手伝いが出来る方、今回に限らず募集していますのでご協力いただける方はAkiko Gatesまでご連絡ください。
