Our Purpose:
• (a) To promote an appreciation and love of cycling and to foster camaraderie among all cyclist regardless of age, creed, or gender.
• (b) To promote the beneficial impact cycling has on fitness and health concerns affecting those communities disproportionately affected by health issues.
• (c) To identify, support, and assist in the development of young armature athletes who wil

l compete in domestic and international cycling competitions to bring more diversity in the sport of cycling and reaching the associations goals for the year
• (d) To organize/sponsor annual cycling events for the purpose of supporting the organizations defined goals for the year.
• (e) To promote local, national and international cycling trips.
• (f) To serve as a liaison for cycling safety, training, and technical information

In respect to and to bring awareness to the Trayvon Martin tragedy the Major Taylor Cycling Club of Portland will be leading a "Black Men in Support of Trayvon Martin Bike Ride". This ride will end at SEI for the event "Conversation and Reflections on Race and Justice" held at Self Enhancement Incorporated from 6:00 - 8:30pm. We will wear all black or any hooded sweatshirt to make a visual statement. Please show your support and leadership in support of this peaceful rally to bring awareness to racial injustice of African Americans and people of color worldwide.

MTCCP Environmental Ride: August 25, 2011 The Equity Bike Ride will bring together ODOT, PBOT, and a host of community organizations including Friends of Trees, Bicyclists of Color, the Community Cycling Center, the Audubon Society of Portland, and others. The ride will highlight the path and will be focused on ODOT and other community groups' efforts in reaching out to and serving "equity populations."

The Major Taylor Cycling Club of Portland (MTCCP) will be riding Providence Bridge Pedal on Sunday August 14, 2011. You can register for the event at: http://blog.bridgepedal.com/. Register now because the day-of registration is more expensive. The group will be doing the 6-Bridge ride (details below). Its the shortest and easiest ride to do we should finish around 12:00 noon.
