Anchors aweigh! ⚓ Check out Stories from the Making of Master and Commander this Thursday, March 26, in Portland! ⛵🎥

Co-organized by and their Women to Women program, this event is a celebration and deep dive into the filmmaking of the 2003 nautical odyssey, Master and Commander. Based on the Patrick O'Brian book series of the same name, the film stars Russell Crowe as Captain Jack Aubrey in a sweeping Age of Sail adventure.

The Stories from the Making of Master and Commander event will feature a potluck dinner and cash bar, followed by an open discussion with Maine-based writer and producer Mimi Munson, who served as the film’s lead historical researcher. Mimi will share behind-the-scenes stories from the two-year journey of making the film, beginning in 2000 during the script adaptation and continuing through the building and outfitting of the ships, costumes, and props—many recreated using maritime antiques from 1806.

Event Details:

📅 Thursday, March 26 from 5:30-8:30 PM
📍 Portland Community Squash - 66 Noyes St, Portland, ME
🍽 It's a Potluck! Please bring a dish to share.
