Kindness Farm is a refugee, immigrant & queer led non-profit educational, urban, regenerative farm in SE Portland. We're an almost entirely volunteer run farm that donates 100% of what we grow to people experiencing food insecurity; and we teach kids, adults, and seniors how to grow their own food sustainably, on a limited budget. In the last 3 years we've...

- Taught over 2200 children, adults, and seniors how to grow their own food

- Donated healthy produce for over 60,000 meals, produce boxes, and free food pantries to those experiencing food insecurity in our community

- Logged nearly 20,000 volunteer hours with our amazing, magical community

We work with historically underserved communities: immigrants, refugees, LGBTQIIA2S+, folks with low-income, BIPOC, & disabled folks.

🌻 EVENT DETAILS:
Have you ever been in a heated debate with your friends about how to start the campfire, which way is “right,” or how to revive it once the flames die down? Come on down to the farm to learn how to start a fire in three different ways, the strengths and shortcomings of each approach, and important techniques for keeping your campfire alive! This beginning bushcraft class is a great way to prepare yourself for a thru-hike, trip out to the coast, or be better prepared for a survival situation.

🌻 EVENT DETAILS:
Weaving is one of humanity’s oldest technologies. Here in the Pacific Northwest, Indigenous peoples have worked with cedar since time immemorial, weaving its bark into baskets, hats, mats, clothing, cordage, and other objects of everyday and ceremonial life.

🧺 In this hands-on workshop, we’ll work with cedar bark and waxed cord to weave our own miniature baskets while exploring weaving as both craft and medicine. No weaving experience is necessary. Come ready to slow down, work with your hands, and weave something beautiful.

Join Jenny and Adrienne for their second annual Mid Autumn Festival dinner celebrating the harvest moon and all the abundance it brings. This festival originates in many Asian cultures and the organizers will be bringing traditional dishes and recipes from their cultural backgrounds while also featuring locally grown produce and ingredients of the diaspora.

Join us for an afternoon of learning and cooking with Paula!
Spend an afternoon learning about the Oaxacan culture and cooking a classic dish. We’ll have all the things you need, just bring yourself and your family! After lunch, enjoy a performance from Cultura Mis Raices, a local Folklórico dance group, and take a tour of Kindness Farm!

12:45pm-1:30pm - Explore the farm!

Después de la comida, disfruta de una presentación de Cultura Mis Raíces - un grupo local de danza folclórica - y explora la granja Kindness Farm.
