Give yourself some grace. ♥️

After working this afternoon, I stopped to visit my new nephew, Henry.

As I sat rocking him, my mind was still racing—projects I needed to finish, things I should be working on, and everything waiting for me tomorrow.

Then I looked down at this little face and decided:

Today, I’m just going to be an aunt.

No multitasking. No feeling guilty about what isn’t getting done. Just allowing myself the grace to be present and enjoy this moment.

I think a lot of us need that reminder right now.

So many of the families we love at Light Your World are carrying a lot. And sometimes we become so focused on surviving, providing, helping, fixing, and getting through the next thing that we forget we’re allowed to simply be.

God did not create us to measure our worth by our productivity.

Sometimes the faithful thing isn’t doing one more thing.

Sometimes it’s putting everything down, accepting the moment God placed in front of you, and giving yourself a little grace. ♥️

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

Whatever season you’re walking through today, be a little gentler with yourself.

And whatever you do today, do it with love. ♥️

To help us continue providing our families with the resources they need while giving the grace we can. Please consider donating at:

16 people served yesterday!!

Bags and bags of clothing went home to people in need.

Children played.
Snacks and beverages shared.
Chatting. Laughter. Encouragement. Love.

These days are so much more than clothing.
❤️❤️❤️

We still need men and boys clothes. As soon as the men's rack is filled, it's gone.

Help us provide for our community.

LOOK AT ALL THESE DONATIONS!

First, I just want to say a HUGE thank you to our clothing closet volunteers! They work countless hours to set everything up for us! ♥️

As you may have heard, Light Your World never intended to have a clothing closet…

But sometimes God is already creating growth before we even realize what He’s doing. ♥️

What started with a few clothing donations quickly became a few racks… then a few more. Now, we’ve added four additional racks plus shoe racks to keep up with the need.

We didn’t create this need. We simply kept saying yes as God placed the resources and people in front of us.

Recently, we opened the closet for just 90 minutes with almost no notice. No real advertising. Our signs weren’t even up when we started.

Yet 10 families came through our doors and three volunteers showed up to help.

But the best part wasn’t the numbers.

Families lingered. People laughed. Volunteers connected. Babies were passed around. New faces walked through the doors and immediately became part of the community.

Somewhere along the way, this became a place where people walk in—even for the first time—as if they already belong.

Because they do. ♥️

Sometimes ministry isn’t an elaborate plan. Sometimes it’s simply showing up and continuing to say yes.

Now we’re asking our community to say yes with us!

We recently invested $280 to expand the clothing closet. Can we come together and cover that cost?

Just 28 people giving $10 gets us there!

Donate below and put CLOTHING in the memo to support this mission. ♥️

What's a day in the life of this ministry look like?

8;34 printed a sample menu from Ginger for one of our moms working on meal planning for her daughter.

9am a family of ours picked up a bed set and bedding for a family they know who's little girl is in need of a bed. We talked a lot about them serving, their big hearts, and how amazing it is for them to give back where they once were.

1:15pm ordered signs for the clothing closet! We will be opening to the public every week for the remainder of the summer clothes season!

2:17 coordinated with the apartment manager

3:48 hardware store for needed items

3:52 picked up one of our dads so he could help us today and earn a few dollars for his family

3:56 coordinated with a volunteer

4pm worked with apartment manager and 2 of our guys to get SO MUCH done in the Living Room that had been sitting waiting. Great connections were made. Ideas for how we could help people in the future were shared. People were listened to. Stories were heard. There was laughter. And people felt good about what they accomplished and the impact they made today.

5:42 supported a volunteer

6:12 watched a volunteer pour love into a member of the program in ways that were absolutely tangible.

6:32 put up signs for upcoming open clothing closet

6:40 started a meeting between a volunteer and a mom, and delivered materials

6:57 dropped off payment to the gentleman who helped us today.

7:00 talked with a mom about a crisis - and how God is moving in her life

7:20 returned to join volunteer and mom meeting

8:40 updated volunteer team working with one of our moms.

8:41 loved on one of our volunteers

8:42 connected with our clothing closet manager to let her know what all was done today.

8:46 updated board on changes and and progress made today.

8:50 connected with our request coordinator

9:06 connected with apartment manager. We were able to pay the remaining lease term of rent for a man who worked for us today. He requested the money go directly to his rent.

9:32 followed up with a homeless family that we were able to pay for a night in a hotel for.

9:34 followed up to support a volunteer

What an absolute beautiful day.
The thing that just can't be captured here is the community at the Living Room. At one point there were 3 people sitting in the chairs talking. A volunteer, the apartment manager and a woman in our program. What a beautiful mix of people God orchestrated.

While 2 of our guys and myself were working on various other projects. When the men finished they were then able to join the group talking. So many laughs!

Everyone had a God ordained place yesterday. It took everyone. The atmosphere was light, friendly, loving and open. And God moved. The representation of God's living room that we pray for.

A little Jesus.

We were at the Living Room yesterday and a dad says in passing.. there's those little Jesus's.

We had a dish of left over little Jesus's sitting out.

Dad went on to say.. my son has been carrying that around non stop. I'm guessing you guys gave that to him.

I explained that they were put in every backpack that we gave out to the kids.

He nodded and said.. well my son carries it everywhere and all day long says "look at my little Jesus".

My heart glowed.

Such a little thing. Quite literally. And if they made that type of impact for just one child, it was absolutely worth it.

Kids carrying Jesus. And sharing Him with others. Reminding us all to look at Jesus throughout our day.

May we all look at a little bit of Jesus today. ❤️

I silently chuckled as they strapped a full size matress to the top of their jeep in my driveway.

A couple that is in our program asked if we could help someone they know who didn't have a bed.

I love these opportunities.
I love when our families want to serve others.
I love when they can see a need and want to help fill the gap.

We were able to supply them a 2 beds, 2 frames and bedding. And they delivered it to the family!!

Whenever we can provide things to enable them to be the hands and feet of Jesus, we do that. It's important they get an opportunity to give and love others.

So today a matress went down the road to a new home. Transported by one of our families. I'm so proud of them. I'm equally excited for this opportunity for them to serve others and give back.

If you feel led to sow into helping families give back to other families in need, this outreach costed approximately $115.

Can I be honest?
I did not want a clothing closet.
At all.

Then people started donating clothes to the point we had to put a few racks out.

And then a few more.

We recently ordered 4 more. Plus shoe racks.
Because the clothes keep coming in.
And going out to people in need.

Last night we opened the clothing closet for just over an hour and half. It was completely last minute. I texted our families in the morning. I didn't get signs up at the building until after the event started.

We had new people walking in with no signs up. Our space has become a space where people we dont know just enter as if they belong. And I love that!

With minimal effort in 1.5 hours, we served 5 of our existing families, 1 homeless family, and 4 that we currently aren't involved with. We even had 3 volunteers there!

Our families lingered. Our families were involved our volunteers. There was laughter and positive words. Babies played and were a community effort to watch.

And every new person saw that it was truly a family.

It was a beautiful spontaneous time together.
Sometimes it's not the elaborate plans. It's juat showing up. ❤️

And saying yes to the things that God asks you to do that you'd rather not. 😉😁

We recently invested $280 in additional racks to support the need that we have. If you feel called to supprt the mission of providing free clothing to thise in need, please donate at thr link below and put CLOTHING in the memo. Can we reach $280 to cover the cost of expansion?

Anyone else feel like we suddenly hit the dog days of summer all at once? ☀️🐾

Me too. And unfortunately, unlike our pooped-out pup in the picture, now is not the time for us to slow down for a nap. ♥️

Right now at Light Your World Ministries, we’re seeing a significant increase in needs… Not only among the families we’ve already been serving, but also from new families who have recently joined our community.

As much as I’d love to say, “Let’s take the next few weeks off and enjoy the rest of summer,” I’m actually here to ask for quite the opposite.

This week, we have a BIG need for boys’ clothing in sizes 5–14. 👕👖

Normally, we try not to be quite this specific with our donation requests, because we are incredibly grateful for everything our community provides. But right now, the need is high and our inventory in these sizes is very low.

If you have gently used boys’ clothing your family has outgrown, we would be incredibly grateful to give it a new home.

Don’t have clothing to donate but still want to help? You can make a monetary donation through our giving platform. Simply put “BOY” in the comments, and we’ll make sure your gift is allocated directly toward filling this need.

Tithe.ly Giving: https://share.google/jcmlp3ESfnKJYoAuz

If you need help coordinating a clothing donation, please reach out! We’ll make sure someone is available to help arrange it.

Every bag of clothing. Every financial gift. Every share of this post. It all matters.

Your compassion and generosity allow us to continue saying “Yes, we can help.” when a family reaches out. That ability means more than we could ever adequately put into words.

Thank you for continuing to show up for our families and helping us Light Their World. ♥️

Now, if someone could tell our four-legged volunteer that his break is over… 🐾

The manager at the apartments that we serve recently has felt called to be my protector.

It's odd for me. I'm not sure that I need it.

I've been in that building serving people on every floor consistently for about 8 months. All without needing protection. Or even feeling the need for it. Ever.

We were joking about what this will look like and how it's so odd to me. His response was something along the lines of I am stuck with him on my side, whether I want it or not I'll be protected at all times.

And then he paused.

He then said something like... or I'll learn to really love people following you around.

That's the greatest compliment anyone could ever give me.

Now, he could have said that facetiously because every time he brings up a name of someone in the apartments my eyes light up and get wide, I smile and say... ooooooohhh I really love them.😍

And he rolls his eyes because the names are not always people that have behavior that is easy to love.

And still I do.

So I'll take the compliment whether it be facetious or not. 🤣 because it's the heartbeat of this ministry. And me.

The desire of this ministry is to love people so well, and so much like Jesus, that others learn to love by following us around.

I will take that compliment any day. ❤️❤️

"You are always smiling."

I got out of my car at the apartments yesterday and a gentleman that I've developed a relationship with "happened" to be walking by.

He "happens" to be where I am a lot lately.

The last two times we've been able to have a conversation more than a passing by he's brought up the topic of faith.

We don't have the same beliefs. He is much more undecided and less firm in his beliefs than I am in mine. The last time we talked he told me exactly what would need to happen for him to believe in God. So I pray that now. And he knows that.

Here's the thing.. my witness to him didn't start by me preaching to him. Or pressuring him. He brought up the conversation. Both times.

My witness started in my actions and demeanor. How I showed up.

Yesterday he greeted me by commenting that I'm always smiling. Something that apartment building doesn't see a lot of.

Sometimes we think showing people Jesus has to be an elaborate plan. Or some big action. The right words. The right scripture. The result has to be a soul "won".

It's really just showing up. Always smiling. Looking like Jesus.

And waiting for God to open doors to simple, small conversations.

Let's go smile at someone today. 😁
