These are simply the events open to the public.

What you don't see here are the investments in our volunteers and ourselves as the board.

Ginger Wilson is running a weekly Bible/book study with our volunteers!!! It's a Lysa Terkeurst book "Making Peace with What I Can't Control: Find Relief from the Exhaustion of Overthinking, Trying to Fix Others, and Wanting to Figure It All Out" Thank you Ginger for stepping out to lead!! Such an important topic!

The board has also committed to a weekly discipleship curriculum.

Sometimes the change we want to see "out there" starts with me. 😊 How we show up for those we serve is our most powerful testimony. LYW is committed to showing up at our best.

The toy table was a succes! Almost all gone!

It was such a whirlwind afternoon! We had people in line at the door at 12:20 to open at 1 and our last person left at 3:15. Between those times it was steady packed!

We saw some repeat families, met some new friends and moved a lot of things out the door to new homes!

It's always a fun day!

Once a month we have 3 volunteers that go to the second harvest food pantry distribution and pick up food for about 7 of our families.

They now bring two vehicles!
Because this is what a pick up looks like.👇🤯

This team will spend the day sorting food into family boxes. Then, one volunteer takes left over items, adds additional items that they purchase and makes them home made meals with love. Tomorrow each family will get a food box and a couple home made meals they just need to reheat.

When food becomes an act of love... this is it.♥️ This team has turned food distribution into so much more special than we expected. Thank you!!

Quick peak!

Our FREE garage sale is officially set up and waiting for Saturday! And we have fall clothes out!

These events bring so much joy to the people that come shop for free. The smiles and excitement when they find something they needed/wanted are worth it all!

This time we have sooo many toys! That's a first for us and it's going to be fun!

Huge thank you to everyone that came out last night to our volunteer meeting!

We had a great turn out and we are so thankful for the time and effort each one of our volunteers give.

We heard testimonies, had training, learned of our 'next steps' for the ministry, heard from volunteers about what they need from us to be able to support those next steps, talked about open volunteer roles, shared our best lyw stories and ended in prayer for our families.

What a beautiful time!!

I've been overwhelmed by the stories of God moving with our volunteers lately. I find myself randomly thinking of their "God moments" and smiling.

❤️ One volunteer had a beautiful experience with a woman we regularly reach out to. This woman engaged our volunteer in a way that we've never seen before. And it was lovely!

❤️ One volunteer had her first encounter ever with a person who's homeless. To see the impact of what the volunteer's time and talents could offer someone in need was beautiful.

❤️ One volunteer is working through something not going the way they thought it should and in that process the Lord is showing Himself able and that He is working. This volunteer is also gaining some beautiful refinement along the way.

We value the personal growth of our volunteers as much as any other ministry that we do. It's such a pleasure to watch them stretch and refine and become more like Jesus.

On another note.. we had so many give their YES to helping us out this week unexpectedly.

🧡 We had someone new to volunteering with us step right in this week and do something that took hours of time off of me. Without question or hesitation... she was right there to serve, knowing very little of our program.

🧡 My mom jumped in and said yes while she was still in her pajamas one morning. That's dedication! On the same day I sent her to pick up some paperwork from a family for me. Her answer is always yes.

🧡 I had 3 yes's from people in my cousin's family for an adventure they knew very little about.

We are so grateful for every YES that our volunteers say to be used for God's glory.

So grateful to God.
So grateful for our volunteers. And that I get to do life with them.
So grateful for beautiful opportunities and moments that we could not orchestrate if we tried.
So grateful for the growth and refinement that allows us to show up to serve better.
So grateful for the yes's.

I answered the door and greeted a woman I didn't know.

She said.. I just got out of jail and my PO said to come here to get some clothes.

As I carried on a conversation with her on the outside, my mind inside was stuck on one question... when did we become the place professionals send their people to? 🤯

A little clothing closet simply started because people gave us some things, that has expanded to the place someome was sent to from jail to get set up. 🤯

❤️ I love that. ❤️

I love that we get to serve people in their most desperate need sometimes, and that they have a place to be met with love, compassion, and value. Regardless of their situation.

What an honor and a privilege.

I got called to come help move a vehicle for a family.

Mom handed me the keys and my eye went straight to the pink heart keychain.

We gave our mom those for mother's day. 🥹

I smiled inside knowing she's carrying our love and prayers with her everywhere she goes.

And then when I started up her car my mind went back to that heart, what it means and the conversation we had earlier.

She said... I called you because I knew you would come.

Depending on people is hard for some of our people. They have been let down by many people. It never escapes me the weight of the reality that with all the people in their lives, we are the ones they trust to show up.

I thought about how I could be frustrated that I spent an extra 45 minutes I hadn't planned on, my mom had to also come out, and I was a bit late to a work meeting... or I could be grateful that she had someone that she knows would show up, take some stress off her and love her.

I thought about the meaning of that pink heart, and I was grateful.
