When community conversations get difficult, we see the same tactics employed by elected officials to silence the voices of those most affected. Limiting public comments, asking blue collar workers to fill seats and consume limited speaking opportunities, and increasing police presence to intimidate concerned residents.
Grayslake, IL is at roughly the same place with public opposition as Port Washington was 6 months ago, and the response is eerily similar. Their village board meeting last night was packed with union workers in an effort to water down the voices of the community.
