Give us strength for the days ahead, wisdom for the choices before us, and confidence to rest in Your faithful care.

We thank You for the blessings You have graciously given to our nation throughout its history. As we mark 250 years, remind us that every good gift comes from Your hand.

Lord,

On this Memorial Day, we remember with gratitude those who gave their lives in service to others. We thank You for the sacrifices made and for the freedoms we so often receive without thought.

Comfort those who grieve the loss of loved ones. Grant wisdom to those who lead, strength to those who serve, and hearts that value peace and selfless love.

Keep our hope fixed on Christ, whose sacrifice has secured for us an eternal inheritance.

A PRAYER FOR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

Heavenly Father, this weekend our memories go back to those who have died to preserve our nation’s liberties. You raised up brave men and women and gave them the determination to sacrifice everything for us, the citizens of the United States of America. Comfort those who grieve their deaths with your promise that those who die in the Lord will rise again. Move us, the living, to be diligent in our prayers for our nation and her leaders. Help us to be the light that reflects Christ in the way we interact with our fellow citizens, so that many more may know and believe that your sacrifice brings true freedom and everlasting life. In your Son’s name we pray. Amen.

Today, we remember Jesus' ascension, which took place 40 days after his resurrection on Easter. Let us pray:

Dearest Lord Jesus, when you ascended into heaven, angels announced that you will come back. In the middle of all the uncertainty of this world, remind me each day that you are still ruling over all things with power and authority and that nothing can separate me from your love. Sink these truths deep into my heart so that my doubts may be dispelled, my guilt removed, and my fears calmed. Amen.
