Yesterday marked eight years since my mom went to heaven.

Today, on Veterans Day, we honor those who have served, are serving, and will one day serve our country.

For the past few years, I’ve been leading Harvesting Hope for Hometown Heroes — an effort to raise funds for a Veterans Gala at the Erie Trackside Manor. Our first gala will take place on Sunday, June 14, 2026, and I couldn’t be more excited to bring this vision to life.

To help cover the cost of tickets for a veteran and their guest, I’m using something near and dear to my heart — my mom’s famous pumpkin cake — as the vessel for this year’s fundraiser.

Over the years, I’ve watched our community rally around these cakes in support of a greater cause — one I know my mom would be so proud of. 💛

Dear Family, Friends, and Community Members,

It’s that time of year again — Grandma Lois’’ Pumpkin Cakes are back! 🤎

First, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported and purchased Grandma Lois’s cakes in the past. When I made these for Two Brothers Bakery, we raised $1,250 for a great cause — the Thank You for Your Service Veterans Gala.

This special event gives our deserving veterans a night of fun, food, dancing, and great prizes. This year’s gala will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the Erie Trackside Manor.

My goal this season is to make and sell 200 small pumpkin bundt cakes (less than 10 inches across). The first three are already ready for sale — all Pumpkin Walnut with Cream Cheese Frosting! 🧁

Here’s the updated price list:
• Pumpkin (plain): $16
• Pumpkin with nuts or raisins: $18
• Pumpkin with nuts/raisins and cream cheese frosting: $20

If you have a different preference for toppinor mix ins, just let me know!

Every cake purchased will sponsor one veteran to attend the gala. ❤️

The Erie Trackside Manor can host 250 guests, and each veteran will receive two tickets — one for themselves and one for a spouse, child, or friend.

I can deliver your cake or you’re welcome to pick it up — whichever is easiest for you!

Behind every delicious slice of Grandma Lois' Pumpkin Cake (most recently featured at Two Brothers Bakery Cafe) lies a heartfelt mission. Meet the inspiration behind 'Harvesting Hope for Hometown Heroes.' Lois was a proud American and a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Rosa-Fleming V.F.W. Post #161 in Port Jervis, and we get to keep her memory alive through this initiative. “Every bite” supports our local heroes, creating a legacy of love and community spirit. Raising funds through the joy of Grandma Lois' Pumpkin Cake will serve as an opportunity for the community to come together investing in a Veteran's ball for our local hometown heroes.

Most importantly, Lois was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, worker...the list could go on and on...🌻

Welcome, friends!

Our mission at ‘Harvesting Hope for Hometown Heroes’ is to honor and support our local veterans through the joy of pumpkin cakes (we have been partnering with Two Brothers Bakery Cafe to share our cakes with the community). We believe in celebrating the courage and sacrifice of our heroes by baking and sharing these delicious treats. Our goal is to raise funds that directly benefit veterans in our community, ensuring they receive the recognition and assistance they rightfully deserve by organizing a Veteran’s ball in Port Jervis, New York. With each bite of our pumpkin cakes, we aim to express gratitude, foster community spirit, and sow the seeds of hope for our beloved hometown heroes.
