St. Clair Co. Sheriff's Office Explorer Post #2004 Explorer Post #2004 is an educational program for high school and college students that want to learn about law enforcement.

The SCCSO Explorer Post was formed in 1978 and eventually dissolved in the late 1990s. The post was reborn in 2019 by members of the Sheriff's Office who were previously Explorers growing up. Explorers meet every Tuesday evening for two hour training meetings throughout the school year. Some of our training topics include traffic stops, officer safety, TCCC, building searches, and physical training just to name a few. Participating in this program will give the high school or college student a first hand look into a law enforcement career. Please be aware this page is used by students in the program and their families. Please keep posts appropriate for high school/college students and relevant to the program. Spam and offensive posts may be removed.

Save the date!

We'll be hosting the annual kickoff meeting for high school and college students interested in joining the Explorer Post on September 8, 2026, 6:00pm, at the Sheriff's Office.

This meeting will give applicants and their parents an overview of the program and its requirements. Applicants under 18 years old must bring a parent or guardian.
