Someday when I have grandkids I will get to tell them the story of how United States Presidential Candidate,Marianne Williamson, came to the Seed & Soul Society/ The Southside Initiative garden, then came to eat at my restaurant Doña Marina’s LLC. This was such a huge moment for me, and a day that I will never forget. She was so down to earth and kind, which was so refreshing! She has been an advocate for food insecurity since the beginning of her career and I am so looking forward to what she does and hear her plans to help communities in need!

Mission Statement: "Healing the heart of the community through agriculture-focused charity, education, and empowerment."

This year we were fortunate enough to be able to install an ADA compliant pathway that makes it easier for everyone to enjoy the space. Gardening and being in a gardening space provides joy and therapy for for all of those who visit. Many times we have had people bring their elderly parents and share stories of their gardening days and how much they miss it. To hear their stories and see the love their eyes when they share their passion gives our mission even more purpose.

Thank you Lee Hoffman for again capturing the essence of our mission through you lens. Of course a very big thank you to Vodaland USA for helping make our dream a reality.

The Seed & Soul Society is an equitable 501(c)(3) nonprofit collective empowering the community towards sustainable agriculture and mutual grow.

As we move in to this year, we are working harder then ever before. Our dedication to community and serving marginalized and underserved populations has brought us to where we are now.

Our Friend Lee stopped by the garden and captured the progress we have been making this year through a combination of aerial drone footage and video magic. Here is our Trustee Ben Krenke talking a little about our new irrigation system, just one of the many projects we have coming this year.
