Heads up ! A Space Jellyfish will likely develop as a result of a rocket launch and be visible across the east coast of the state, with the best visibility potentially being near Miami!

If you're willing to wake up at 6:30am to see it, you could get views like FSC did last week!

As for the our waterway, we will be experiencing higher than usual tides. If you’ve not done so already consider raising your lifts and lashing off your boats and tying down anything else that may be affected by a higher tide and heavier winds tonight.

Did you know….

❓Do You Know the 72-Hour Call ‘Rule of Thumb’? This rule applies to stormwater or the water in your swale or drainage ditch. After a rain event, wait 72-hours before calling Public Works. 🦺

Why…because the water can take that long to flow through the drainage system. This is to help remove pollutants from entering our larger waterbodies. If the water is moving, the system is working. The swale may still have water in it after this time frame but if it is lower, this means the system is working.

What if it rains again before the 72-hour timeframe? You must restart the clock and wait another 72-hours after each rain event.

There are areas in Charlotte County that are close to tidal waters that are heavily influenced by both the tides and ground water levels. They may experience more or continuous water in the swales.

If you believe you have an issue with your drainage system, please call Public Works 941.575.3600

Drainage requests are prioritized based on the following factors:
• Stormwater threatening personal property (flooding homes)
• Stormwater over the road and/or sidewalk
• Stormwater in a drainage swale

Great job cleaning up!

Is that...a dock? Why yes it is!
There are many groups out doing the Ocean Conservancy International Coastal Cleanup and one of those is Jim Finch's Geocaching group. 17 folks - 5 by land and 12 by water, went out and scoured the area around Harbour Heights Park. They did not find a lot of trash but they can say they brought in the biggest item - a dock. Estimated weight 275 lbs. Great job getting that out of the water! Thanks to Jim and friends for getting out there and making a difference! Kudos to Charlotte County Parks and Recreation for always giving us a hand and taking the debris, no matter what it is, away! 💪🌎🌿
