Our Executive Director, Derion Schieber, spent the last two days attending the Oklahoma Public Health Association Conference!

She participated in a variety of sessions covering important topics including mental health initiatives, food access, maternal health, TSET grants, and the Oklahoma Rural Transformation Program.

Attending conferences like these is pivotal to our organization. They provide opportunities to build strategic partnerships across the state, gain valuable insight into the work happening in other communities, and explore ways we can bring innovative programs and ideas back to Kay County.

We are grateful for opportunities to learn, connect, and collaborate as we continue working toward a healthier future for Kay County. 💙

Friday Night Lights. Big Impact.💙💛

Friday night, our Executive Director had the honor of joining Newkirk Public Schools Athletic Trainer Lacey McCombs and Superintendent Todd Overstreet at halftime to present a new AED, made possible by funding approved by the Community Health Foundation of Kay County Board of Directors.

This investment is about more than a machine. It includes a carrying case, training pads so students, coaches, and paras can practice in real time, charging cords, and a one-year connection to a platform that records emergencies and provides replacement pads or equipment when needed.

We hope this AED is never needed. But if that moment ever comes, we want Newkirk to be ready. Because on the field, seconds matter. Having lifesaving equipment close by can make all the difference when every second counts.

We're proud to keep expanding access to AEDs across Kay County and support the athletic trainers, coaches, schools, and students who are there when it matters most.

That’s what investing in our community looks like—putting lifesaving resources where they are needed, before they are ever needed.

We are so excited to have Kristy serving the moms of Kay County at our local hospital. She will be an amazing asset to our new mamas!

National Community Health Worker Awareness Week continues, and we recognize the CHW/PRN at Integris Ponca City, Kristy Connell. Kristy works at the maternity ward of Integris Ponca City, helping mother before they leave with their newborn baby. She also partners across the community and helps connect clients with resources they need,

Serving Kay County in such an Impactful Way! Thank you, Amanda!

National Community Health Worker Awareness Week continues, and today we are highlighting our Community Health Worker in Kay County, Amanda Beaston. Amanda regularly partners with non-profits in the county, including the local food bank, NERA (New Emergency Resource Center). When at NERA, Amanda helps clients sign up for Soonercare, SNAP and LIHEAP. What brings the most joy to Amanda is " the opportunity to help make my community healthier. Often, our clients don't know where to turn, and I am glad to be there for them." A big shout out to Amanda Beaston and all that she does for her clients!!

Today was the kickoff for this year’s United Way of North Central Oklahoma Campaign, and we were proud to be there alongside our friends and partners at United Way.

Our board members Kailye Anderson and Molly Kyler, along with Executive Director Derion Schieber, attended to show our support for an organization we have proudly partnered with for many years.

At the Community Health Foundation, we believe the biggest changes in a community happen when organizations work together. United Way is a great example. Our missions align closely, and we are often working toward the same goal: making sure people in Kay County have access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need to live healthier, stronger lives.

This fiscal year, we have invested more than $2,500 in United Way’s Emergency Rx Program and $24,050 in RSVP, supporting wheelchair ramps, medical transportation, and other vital services for local residents.

But our partnership goes beyond funding. It’s about showing up, sharing ideas, connecting resources, and working together to find solutions for the people we all serve. When local organizations come together, we can reach farther, do more, and make a bigger difference.

We’re excited to cheer United Way on throughout this campaign and can’t wait to see what our community can accomplish together.

These aren’t just numbers. And these aren’t just agencies. These are our neighbors, our families, our children, and our community.

Behind every dollar the Community Health Foundation invests is a story. A child who had a healthy meal. A family who received medical equipment they couldn’t afford. A senior who gained greater independence through an accessibility ramp. An AED that could save a life when every second matters. A child learning healthy habits. A mom receiving support and education to give her baby the best start possible.

$202,988 is the number. But the impact is so much bigger.

Because what we can’t measure on a spreadsheet is the relief, hope, dignity, and opportunity these investments bring to people right here in Kay County.

From Ponca City to Newkirk, Blackwell to Tonkawa, this is what local investment looks like. It’s neighbors helping neighbors and a community choosing to take care of its own.

This is why CHF exists: to make real change, create real impact, and leave Kay County healthier than we found it.

And this was just October 2025 to today.

We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we’re just getting started.

Come join us and Oklahoma Parkinson's Alliance for our Parkinson's Support Group this Friday, August 28th.
We will meet from 1:00pm-2:00pm in our Fireside Room located inside Hospice of North Central Oklahoma at 445 Fairview in Ponca City.
This support group is FREE and OPEN to the public.

If you or a loved one is experiencing Parkinson's, this is a great opportunity to meet with others who are familiar with what you are going through. 💙
