💙 You spoke. We listened. Now we're building the plan.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our Heart & Soul booth at National Night Out!

We loved seeing so many of you checking out the seven Heart & Soul boards, voting with dots for the action ideas that matter most to you, and adding a few new ideas of your own.

And those dots weren't just for fun — we're using them 👀

A few priorities that rose to the top included:

⭐ Preschool & childcare
⭐ More non-sports activities for kids
⭐ Affordable & accessible housing
⭐ A community center for all ages
⭐ More family-friendly, year-round events
⭐ Restaurants & other places to eat, gather and connect
⭐ Making Pomeroy easier and safer to walk around

Across the seven boards, we also saw quite a bit of overlap — especially around more things to do, places to gather, and opportunities for kids and families.

Next, we'll use this input as we build the Heart & Soul Action Plan and start connecting with community partners and others who may already be working on — or interested in helping move forward — some of these ideas.

💙 You Spoke. Progress Is Happening.

When our Heart & Soul team discussed Education & Youth, two priorities stood out:

🧸 Childcare
📚 Preschool

The exciting part? Those priorities are already becoming reality.

Pomeroy Community Connection is renovating the future home of Donna's Mama Bear Daycare & Learning Center, helping bring licensed childcare and preschool opportunities to Pomeroy.

Heart & Soul didn't create this project, but it does reinforce that what we're hearing from the community matches the direction many people and organizations are already working toward. That's worth celebrating. 💙

We'll keep sharing what we're hearing—and highlighting the people and organizations helping move our community forward.

💙 Heart & Soul in Action

So... what happens to all of the ideas you've shared with us? 👀

We start figuring out what to do with them!

Our Heart & Soul team recently completed Phase 3 training, where we began working with the ideas Pomeroy residents have shared throughout the project.

Using our Economic Vitality Heart & Soul Statement, we practiced an activity called Change Over Time to look at where our community has been, where we are today, where we want to go—and what could help us get there.

Over the coming months, we'll work through all of our Heart & Soul Statements and bring these conversations back into the community to help identify what matters most and which ideas should move forward.

Because the next chapter of Heart & Soul isn't about our team deciding what's best for Pomeroy. It's about turning what we've heard from Pomeroy into a plan shaped by Pomeroy 💙

New here? We're glad you're here.

Over the past year, hundreds of community members have shared what they love about living here and what they hope for the future of Pomeroy.

Those conversations helped shape our community's Heart & Soul statements—shared values that will help guide future conversations, projects, and decisions.

Now we're entering the next chapter: turning those community voices into action.

Follow along as we continue celebrating what makes Pomeroy special and work together toward the future our community envisioned.

Now that our Heart & Soul value statements have been adopted, what's next?

On June 30, our Heart & Soul team will begin Phase 3 training, where we'll learn how to build a community-driven action plan based on what we've heard from residents throughout the Heart & Soul process.

Over the past year, community members have shared their stories, hopes, concerns, and ideas for the future. Together, those conversations helped identify the values and priorities that matter most across our community.

Phase 3 is about turning those shared values into action.

This isn't about creating projects behind closed doors. It's about continuing to listen, building partnerships, and working together to identify actions that reflect what matters most to the people who call Pomeroy home.

Last week, the City of Pomeroy officially adopted these seven Community Heart & Soul value statements.

These statements reflect the voices, stories, and ideas shared by hundreds of community members over the past year through conversations, interviews, events, and activities.

They are not the end of the process—they are the foundation for what comes next.

Over the coming months, community members, local organizations, businesses, and public partners will begin working together to turn these values into action.

💙 A major milestone for Pomeroy Heart & Soul!

Last night, the Pomeroy City Council officially adopted our Community Heart & Soul values by resolution.

These values were shaped through interviews, surveys, community events, conversations, and stories shared by people throughout our community.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this possible.

While this is an important milestone, it isn't the end of the process. Next, we'll begin exploring how these values can help guide future projects, priorities, and action planning in our community.

We look forward to continuing the conversation and finding new ways for community members to stay involved.

Over the past couple weeks, we’ve shared 7 draft Heart & Soul statements based on what we’ve heard from our community.

These statements reflect what matters most to people in Pomeroy — from connection and belonging to schools, local businesses, and community health.

We’ve also received thoughtful feedback along the way, and we want to make sure we take the time to review and incorporate that input in a meaningful way.

Because of that, our team has decided to take a little more time before bringing the statements forward for adoption.

👉 Our updated goal is to present finalized statements to City Council in May.

Between now and then, we’ll be:
