BIG STIX finished as runners up in the Gold bracket this past weekend. Our staff couldn’t be any more pleased with how our boys battled to the very end. Not the outcome we wanted but not too shabby for our first weekend. Our mission as an organization is to help mold our boys into healthy young men. Focusing on building character, taking accountability, and having mental toughness. This weekend was proof that our boys are taking that leap forward into being good young men. Battling adversity and always coming back swinging. We will carry these values and lessons into the next tournament as we head to Indiana this weekend.

We would like to congratulate Lindzie Runions of Rio Grande Softball on earning All-Conference Second Team honors. Lindzie serves as our organization’s fundraising coordinator and consistently steps in wherever additional support is needed. Congratulations Lindzie!!

You may just see a new pair of cleats, but I see a young man giving back to the youth and the great game of baseball. We are extremely thankful to Jake Miller for sending a couple pairs of cleats to some boys who lost their gear in an accident. Someone in Jake’s position could have easily ignored the situation; instead, he used his platform to foster hope for the next generation.

Jake graduated in 2022 from Liberty Union High School, where he was named the Gatorade Ohio Baseball Player of the Year. That same year, he was drafted 46th overall by the Marlins organization. He is currently playing in Double-A with the Marlins organization, and I have no doubt that we will see him in the Show soon enough.

I hope all of Southeastern Ohio is rooting for Jake from this point forward. Thanks, buddy—it means more than you know.

We had one of our players cars catch on fire on their way home from their jr high game today. Thankfully, nobody was hurt. He is 11 and his brother is 12 or 13 I believe. They lost just about all their gear except for their gloves and what they were wearing. You can comment, private message me on here or I can send you my personal phone number if you would like to donate bats, bags, helmets, batting gloves, sliding mitts, or anything to help.

You can have them mailed directly to you or you can have them picked up at Roy Kuhl sports shop in Winfield, WV. When the team shop closes and everything is done I will be going to pick up everything that wasn’t mailed so I will distribute them to you if you choose to not have them mailed. The deadline to order is April 26th.
