Humble Folks with Big Ambitions

The Ballad of the Southern Student Association began a way that only Southerners could, with a tailgate. Jeff Gallini was tailgating the BYU football games with come of his friends from Texas where he met Jon Facer who was tailgating with the people of Tennessee. They decided to make their tailgates for all the people of the South and recruited Sarah Hansen to help with the tailgates, who was thinking about starting a club for Southern Students .

In January of 2018, the Southern Student Association was a chartered club at BYU and had their opening social with almost 200 people at it. Since than the Southern Student Association has hosted many tailgates, our Annual SEC Championship Watch Party, Country Dancing Activities, Mardi Gras Celebrations, Crawfish Boils and service projects.

We are a club for BYU students that is a community where anyone can feel at home. Many of us felt out of place when we can to BYU and want to make sure that everyone has a home at BYU.
