Thank you to everyone who has shown an interest in our banner program. It’s heartwarming to see the number of people helping us honor our community heroes.

Respectfully, just sending pictures and info on Messenger sets us up for mistakes or missing it entirely. Our website is very useful for making application—hometownheroesmasoncounty.org. You can apply right there on the website for either a veteran or a first responder banner. You can upload the photo you wish to use, and for veterans you can upload a picture of the DD214 discharge form. You can even make payment with a card on the website.

Also, applications are available at the Point Pleasant American Legion for both types of banners, and once completed you may leave it there in the social quarters.

So far we have only one application for a first responder banner. I can’t think there aren’t more folks who would like to recognize a loved one as a hometown hero. It’s easy—just click on the QR code on the photo, or pick up an application at the American Legion. Also, applications have been made available at various departments throughout the county.
Deadline is extended a few days to August 15th. Thank you.

Deadline for applications is August 11 to get the banners displayed in time for September 11 ceremony. Applications may be made online the website (scan the QR code) or are available at the American Legion and various police, fire and EMS departments throughout the county. Thank you.

The Hometown Heroes Committee is very thankful to all those who sponsored veterans banners. Here’s a listing of Phase One banner locations and a very rough map of Point Pleasant Main and Viand Streets. The listing is in alphabetical order to help you quickly find your loved one’s banner. Although if it’s a pretty day, I highly recommend a leisurely stroll through Point Pleasant. It’s a pretty little town. And if you didn’t get a banner, please don’t hesitate to order one for Phase Two. Banners are being hung now! 🇺🇸 A list of where each one is will be posted soon. There will be a ceremony celebrating them on our nation’s 250th birthday—July 4th at noon at the Riverfront Amphitheater in Point Pleasant.
Phase 1 of the veterans banners is at capacity. Phase 2 will be launched in October, so please continue to submit applications either online or at the American Legion. Keep them coming! 🌟
