Our Crisis Comfort K9s were at it again!

Bob, one of the team's founding members and current K9 handler, recently required surgery and a short hospital stay following an injury.

Two of our certified therapy K9s, K9 Tikka and K9 Jemma, paid him a a visit while he was awaiting surgery. Great work Crisis Comfort teams!

Bob is now home and on the mend. We are all hoping Bob has a quick and smooth recovery!

Within hours of the attack on the World Trade Center, thousands of search and rescue personnel from across America were deployed to ground zero. Along with these brave and selfless humans, it is estimated that over 300 search and rescue K9s assisted in the search, rescue, and recovery efforts following the attacks.

Dogs trained to alert their handler to the scent of live people were deployed to rescue those buried beneath debris. The last living person pulled from the rubble was found by one of these dogs, 27 hours after the towers collapsed. Later, cadaver dogs were brought in to recover the bodies of those lost in the attack.

Search and rescue/recovery dogs were not the only K9 on the scene, however. Therapy dogs were also present at ground zero, offering comfort and respite to fire fighters and emergency personnel working at ground zero.

Today we honor the victims, first responders, search and rescue personnel, and the K9s that stepped up in the shadow of the deadliest terror attack in US history. We will never forget.

From everyone at Great Lakes Search and Rescue K-9, we hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend!

We were again invited back to Kohler Andrae State Park to give a presentation and K9 demonstration the Sunday of Labor Day weekend!

This is always a fantastic opportunity to share our team's mission and what our dogs can do!

Thank you to everyone who attended, and especially those who hid for our dogs! The children loved it and wanted to hide again and again.

Thank you to Kohler Andrae for having us!

Enjoy a few photos from the presentation/demonstration and from training beforehand!

Our Crisis Comfort K9s made their official deput last week. Our Team President's wife, Kelly, lovingly referred to as our "First Lady," required an extended hospital stay.

Four of our full-members visited her with their therapy K9s. Each of our Crisis Comfort K9s is a certified therapy dog through Healing Paws of Wisconsin.

Please keep Kelly in your thoughts and prayers!

Here's a few photos from our Law Enforcement Training Specialists Seminar!

The dogs worked many training problems including proofing problems, problems meant to build commitment to odor, and vehicles!
