California Society of Printmakers

California Society of Printmakers The California Society of Printmakers The CSP has a membership of approximately 300, and always welcomes new members.

The California Society of Printmakers is a non-profit arts organization which promotes the practice and appreciation of fine art printmaking, and is a focus of activity for print artists, helping to maintain the integrity and identity of the art of printmaking. It provides a home for artists interested in preserving traditional printmaking techniques as well as for artists interested in exploring

new directions in printmaking. The CSP provides support and opportunity for its members by sponsoring exhibitions of prints on a local, national and international level, by arranging educational activities for members, and by the online publication of a members' newsletter, The California Printmaker: the News Brief. Although the majority of the members live and work in California, membership extends throughout the world. The CSP serves the public by producing public exhibitions of the printmaking arts, by providing educational programs about prints and printmaking, and by publishing a professional journal, The California Printmaker: The Journal of the California Society of Printmakers. The CSP also provides information to the public about printmaking resources on this website.

“Expanding the Field; New Ideas in and Beyond Print” should not be missed!!

Opening at the Triton Museum of Art, August 30, 2025, 2-4pm,

Exhibition runs Aug 30–January 11, 2026.

“Yes, the art of printmaking, the clean margins, the perfect registration are all important and still part of a practice involving large scale and 3D pieces, but the art of filling a space with print outside of the frame is exhilarating and inspiring. Much progress as a printmaker can be made outside of a comfort zone. I always feel that if an artwork I created changed me as a person and as an artist, it was worth it.“
—Monique Martin, Juror.

Special thanks go to CSP exhibition co-chair, Kevin Harris for his inexhaustible drive and vision in designing this exhibit. Thank you Susanna Harris for jumping into the project mid-stream and joining the team as our new exhibition co-chair. You both have shown deep care and support for each participant and the unique needs of each artwork! What a beautiful survey of the boundless possibilities of printmaking!

California Society of Printmakers is partnering with the Triton Museum to highlight the power and possibilities of contemporary printmaking.

This call aims to give printmakers the opportunity to showcase and exhibit their most innovative, and evolving work. Successful entrants will produce uniquely thoughtful imagery. Artwork will potentially go beyond the traditional bounds of printmaking, in terms of technique, content, or concept. This exhibition seeks to encourage work that expands beyond the paper’s edge, extends off the wall, interlocks, or expresses in multiples, tells a great story, and propels what we consider printmaking.
