HOLIDAY CARD ARTWORK CONTEST

GSLE is excited to hold its third annual Holiday Card Art Contest ! We're on the hunt for a remarkable, original piece of art to feature on the council's annual holiday card.

And, for the winner...The Girl Scout with the winning artwork will receive a $50 gift card to the Council Shop, just in time for the holiday season! Her work of art will also be featured on our council’s holiday card which will be seen by many of GSLE's supporters and community members accross southeast Louisiana.

ELIGIBILITY
Artwork must be original and created by a Girl Scout from Girl Scouts Louisiana East. The contest is open to Daisies through Ambassadors! All mediums and formats are encouraged and accepted. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, November 6, 2022.

Think about your favorite holiday activities and how your fellow Girl Scouts will celebrate this year. Since Girl Scouts is a global organization, research how other cultures celebrate the holidays and include your findings in your design. With this in mind, religious centered artwork will not be accepted if it focuses on only one religion.

ENTERING THE CONTEST

To officially enter the GSLE Holiday Card Art Contest, use this form to submit your information and your work of art or a photo of your work of art. If for any reason you have trouble uploading your file, please email [email protected] . Also, if your masterpiece is selected as a finalist, you may be asked to mail it to GSLE Headquarters.

Please hold on to original art pieces until the contest is concluded. The winner will be announced the week of Nov. 6.

Hi everyone!

Creating this page for us to communicate as a group and keep everyone informed as to what’s happening.

I’m still aiming to host our first meetings in October.

The month of September is a money earning month for the Girl Scouts. There’s a fall fundraiser for candy. (Yummy candy and great Christmas gifts!). Unfortunately, we’ve run into some hiccups. In order to participate, we have to have a checking account. Checking account has to be through a certain bank. Ya da ya da ya da. We’re trying to iron out all of the details. Money made from fundraising will go into the bank account, then be used to help offset the cost of things your girls want to participate in.

The KC Hall in Plaquemine has generously agreed to allow us use of their facility to host meetings when necessary. I’m hoping to have meetings in other locations, and hope to use this as our home base per se.

I’m leaning towards 2 meetings per month: one during the week and one on the weekends. Some other troops meet weekly, some monthly…so I thought this would be a good in between. It would also allow more opportunities to participate…when things pop up in your end. Your input on this is welcomed!

Special thank you to Precious Green for signing up as an adult volunteer!

Your help, as a volunteer, is much needed. We can’t hold meetings without two female volunteers being present. We also need at least one person who is first aid/CPR certified. I’m planning to line up a first aid/CPR training soon,so if anyone is interested in attending, please let me know!!

Also…just FYI…meetings can no longer be held in private residences due to liability issues.

That’s my little update for today. Still looking forward to meeting everyone soon!!! 💚
