Preventing Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Youth

Living for Zachary is a non-profit organization [(501 (c) (3) 80-0410066] with a mission dedicated to saving young lives from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). The organization was founded in honor of Zachary Schrah, who was only 16 years old when he collapsed during a high school football practice in Plano on April 2, 2009. After Zachary’s death, the Living for Zachary Organization was established to raise awareness of undiagnosed heart issues in teens.

Every year, young lives are impacted by sudden cardiac arrest. At Living for Zachary, we're working to change that through heart screenings, AED donations, CPR training, and education.

❤️ Red Out at Plano Senior High School!

We recently joined Plano Senior High School for Red Out, where students and staff spent the week learning about sudden cardiac arrest, locating AEDs on campus, and practicing hands-only CPR.

To help strengthen preparedness on campus, we donated two AEDs to the school.

Thank you to the students and staff for showing up, learning lifesaving skills, and making heart health a priority!

You made North Texas Giving Day 2026 our most successful Giving Day ever! Not only did you exceed our goal of $35,000, you nearly DOUBLED it - raising $67,122 in support of the fight against sudden cardiac arrest in youth.
