🎃👻 HALLOW-STEM 2026! 👻🎃

What a fun time we had at the 2026 Hallow-STEM Trick-or-Treat Event at Pittston Area High School! 🍬🎃

With almost 400 children registered for this year's event, you can only imagine all the excitement, laughter, and Halloween spirit that filled the school !!

For those who may not know, STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. STEM programs encourage children to explore, be creative, think outside the box, and learn through fun, hands-on experiences. What a wonderful way to combine education with a little Halloween magic! 🎃🔬🧪

There is nothing better than getting out into the community, seeing all those smiling faces, and spending time with the kids and their families!

We had such a great time walking around, chatting with everyone, checking out all the awesome costumes, and enjoying the Halloween excitement!!

A special THANK YOU to Pittston Area High School for inviting the Jenkins Township Police Department to be part of the festivities! We truly enjoyed every minute of it!

It's moments like these that make our job so rewarding. Getting to know the families in our community and seeing the excitement on the kids faces is what it's all about! 💙🚔

Thank you again for including us, and congratulations to everyone who helped make this event such a wonderful experience for the children!

🍁🎃 WHAT AN AMAZING TIME AT THE 2026 PLAID CHURCH'S FALL FEST TRUNK OR TREAT! 🎃🍁

WOW!! What a blast we had at this year's Fall Fest Trunk or Treat! 👻🍬🚓

From FREE hot dogs 🌭 and hot chocolate ☕ to delicious hot apple c***r 🍎, FREE pumpkins 🎃, hayrides 🚜, and plenty of Halloween fun, there was something for everyone!

And guess what, ?! OVER 1,000 PEOPLE came through this year's Trunk or Treat!! 🎉👏 That's incredible!!

A HUGE thank you to Plaid Church for inviting us to be part of such a wonderful community event! ❤️

There's nothing better than seeing so many families, smiling faces, and kids having the time of their lives!

Thank you again, Plaid Church! We had a BLAST and can't wait to see everyone next year!! 🎃🚓🐾

🐾🚔 K-9 YES — LET'S GO!!! 🚔🐾

🎉 HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE IN JENKINS TOWNSHIP! 🎉

We are beyond excited to officially announce that the Jenkins Township Board of Supervisors has APPROVED the FIRST-EVER K-9 UNIT in the history of the Jenkins Township Police Department! 🐕💙

This is an incredible milestone for our department and our community, and we couldn't be more excited to see this dream become a reality!

We are also proud to announce that Sergeant Tracy Schultz will serve as the handler for our department's very first K-9! 🐾🚔❤️

Our new K-9 Unit will be a valuable resource for our officers and the communities we proudly serve. From narcotics detection and tracking to locating missing persons and assisting fellow law enforcement agencies, this four-legged officer will make a difference!!!

We would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to the Jenkins Township Board of Supervisors for believing in this program and recognizing the benefits a K-9 Unit will bring to our department and community.

To everyone who has supported this journey, encouraged us, and believed in OUR vision — THANK YOU!!! ❤️

🐾 LOST DOG — LET’S GET THIS PUP HOME! 🐾

Leave it to our employees once again! ❤️

Our amazing Jenkins Township employees came across this lost pup in the area of Gaffney Drive in Jenkins Township.

Thankfully, our Code Enforcement Officer Ron Giza 🙋‍♂️ stepped up and made sure our four-legged visitor has a safe, warm place to stay while we work on finding the owners. 🐶🏠

Now we need YOUR help!

🚔 APPARENTLY, THE FLU AFFECTS YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE 🤒🚗

I know, I know...Please, let me give you an example!!

On September 14, Sergeant Tracy Schultz was dispatched to a two-car motor vehicle crash on River Road near the 8th Street Bridge.

Upon arrival, Sergeant Schultz noticed something slightly unusual: one of the vehicles involved in the crash was approximately a football field away from where the crash actually happened!!!

Naturally, she asked the driver why he was so far away....His explanation?
“The vehicle kept going and I couldn’t stop it.” NO, you couldn't drive it anymore, because you LOST your tire!
🤔

Sergeant Schultz then asked the obvious question:
“So… were you trying to leave the scene?”
“NO, MA’AM. NO, MA’AM.”
Okay then. 😂

The driver, who was holding an approximately six-month-old baby, provided his license, registration, and insurance information...OK PERFECT...right??!!
NOPE..couldn't be that easy...a check revealed that his driver’s license was...guess WHAT???!!!..
SUSPENDED!!

Well, we were already off to a great start!!

Sergeant Schultz then made contact with the driver of the second vehicle. There was a language barrier, (me no English!), so a friend arrived and offered to translate...GREAT!! maybe this gets better? 🫣

The driver was asked for his license, registration, and insurance information. Pretty simple right?!

Except...the Sergeant gets...."Me no have no drivers license". Oh God..this can't be happening. 🙄 He then claims, "Me shoulder hurt"

An 🚑 was provided and treatment began. He was subsequently transported to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

But wait!! Just when you thought it was over!! 😂

The best part of this story had not happened yet!!

Sergeant Schultz then approached the passenger of that same vehicle and asked him for identification.
The passenger handed her…

🥁🥁🥁

A VALID PENNSYLVANIA DRIVER’S LICENSE!! 👀👀

At this point, there was really only one question left to ask:

“If YOU have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license… why weren’t YOU driving?”

Folks, after years in law enforcement, we have heard some excuses.

We have heard good excuses....
We have heard bad excuses.....
We have heard excuses that made us stare silently through the windshield for a few seconds and reconsider our career choices. (Seriously!!) 🤭

But this gentleman may have just raised the bar 🏆 yet AGAIN!! His answer?

🤒 “I HAVE THE FLU.” 🤒

Apparently, somewhere in Pennsylvania law, there must be a section we missed:

Got the flu? Hand the keys to the guy without a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license. 😂
We checked.
That is NOT actually a law.

We aren't sure if NyQuil prohibits operating a motor vehicle, but apparently it makes a perfectly good Pennsylvania driver's license completely useless. 🤷‍♀️

After this call, Sergeant Schultz is fairly confident she has heard just about everything!!

Then again, this is police work.

Somebody will eventually top it. They always do!!

🚔 MORAL OF THE STORY:

If you are going to drive in Jenkins Township — or anywhere else for that matter — have a valid driver’s license, PLEASE!!

And if the person sitting next to you DOES have one…
maybe let him drive.
Even if he has the sniffles. 🤧😂

Both drivers will be charged accordingly.

🇺🇸 SEPTEMBER 11 — A DAY TO REMEMBER 🇺🇸

September 11 is a day that will forever hold a special place in the hearts of Americans. We remember the lives lost, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the families whose lives were forever changed!!!
We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Unfortunately, while September 11 is a day we would much rather spend remembering courage and sacrifice, police work doesn’t stop—and sometimes the calls we receive remind us why surveillance cameras are worth their weight in gold. 🕵‍♂️

On September 11, 2026, Officer Joseph Coddington responded to the Pittston Area High School after Luzerne County 911 received a call from Michelle Luna, who reported that she had been attacked by a School Resource Officer!! What??!! 🤔

Upon arrival, Officer Coddington spoke with Luna, who confirmed that a SRO assaulted her 💪 as she was walking away!! Oh No!!! 🫪

Officer Coddington then spoke to the SRO, who provided a slightly different version of events!! (It couldn't be!! 😂)

According to the SRO, Luna had been causing a disturbance and had been asked more than four times to leave the property. After Luna continued to refuse, SRO advised Luna that she was no longer free to leave and would be detained until police arrived!! 🚨🚔

Luna apparently wasn’t a fan of that plan!! 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️

During the attempt to detain her, Luna struck the SRO!!
The incident resulted in injuries, including a bruise on the SRO right eye and a four inch laceration to his arm.

So now we have two differnet stories!! WHAT NOW?? 🕵‍♂️🕵‍♂️🕵‍♂️

Fortunately, there was one witness who didn’t forget anything, didn’t change its story, and had absolutely no reason to pick sides:

🎥 THE SURVEILLANCE CAMERA!!!

Officer Coddington reviewed the video footage, which confirmed the account provided by the SRO...This video provided the facts that Luna intentionally struck 💪 the SRO!!..not once 💪...not twice 💪💪 several times!! 💪💪💪

As we always say, there are two sides to every story…
and then there’s the camera. 📹😂

Technology may not solve every problem, but it sure does make some police reports a whole lot easier to write!!
And perhaps the best reminder from this call:

🚔 Just because someone calls 911 first...doesn’t always mean they’re the victim!!

Needless to say, the work wasn't over yet for Officer Coddington!! 👮🏻He took Luna into custody and transported her back to the Jenkins Township Police Department where she was then processed.

Luna was subsequently arraigned before Judge Kokura Kravitz, who set bail at 15,000.00.

Moral of the story, just listen please!! 🙏
