๐๐ Introducing the Blue Envelope Program! ๐๐
Recently, the Scranton Police Department was proud to introduce the Lehigh Valley Health Network, part of Jefferson Health, Blue Envelope Program to our community!
The Blue Envelope Program is designed to help improve communication during traffic stops for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and others who may have communication challenges. The Blue Envelope provides a simple way for drivers or their families to share important information with law enforcement during an interaction.
The envelope can contain important documents such as a driverโs license, registration, insurance information, emergency contacts, and other helpful details. It also provides guidance for both the driver and the officer to help create a safer, calmer, and more effective interaction. ๐ค๐
This is another tool in our toolbox to help us better serve our community and support positive interactions between law enforcement and the residents we serve.
We are excited for this new partnership and honored to join the many other participating police agencies across the region that have embraced the Blue Envelope Program. The number of participating agencies continues to grow each day as we work together to make our communities more inclusive and accessible for everyone. ๐๐
A special thank you to Roseann Polishan from The Arc of Northeastern Pennsylvania for joining us at National Night Out and helping introduce this important program to our community. We truly appreciate your partnership and commitment to making a difference. ๐
We would also like to recognize Lehigh Valley Health Network, part of Jefferson Health, for administering the Blue Envelope Program and making this valuable resource available to our community and so many others.
