Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management made a bold statement this week in releasing the RI Food Strategy 2030, which put scaling up preventing, donating and recycling wasted food as one of 4 pillars of the plan.

In a state known for its great food, agriculture and fisheries, prioritizing addressing wasted food elevates the importance of this cross-cutting issue.

CET's Lorenzo Macaluso served on the Advisory Board for the creation of the plan helping guide stakeholders to see wasted food as a centerpiece of the plan.

So far, over 160 schools have registered for the Green Team for the 2026-2027 school year!

It’s not too late to register your school or classroom to be eligible for the first equipment distribution of the year.

Register by October 15th to be eligible for recycling and composting equipment and idling reduction signage.

Join schools throughout Massachusetts in having a positive impact on the environment and teaching students about the value of sustainable practices.
