What a fantastic evening at Pittsburgh Pirates Scout Night! ⚾️

Cub Scout Pack 213 had an amazing time cheering on the Pirates last night. While the final score may not have gone Pittsburgh’s way, the beautiful weather, great company, and unforgettable experiences made it a winning night for our Scouts and their families.

From enjoying ballpark favorites like peanuts, popcorn, and cotton candy to sharing laughs and making memories together, everyone had a wonderful time.

A special thank you goes out to Ms. Jeanine for organizing our outing and handling all of the ticket arrangements. Your hard work helped make this event a tremendous success!

We would also like to thank the Pittsburgh Pirates organization and staff for their hospitality and for giving our Scouts the incredible opportunity to participate in the pregame ceremony on the field. Experiences like these create memories that will last a lifetime.

Thank you to all of our Scout families who joined us for a great night of baseball, fun, and fellowship. We can’t wait for our next adventure together!

Good morning all!
For those who weren’t at the game last evening it was truly a memorable one when a friend decided to come visit our cubs. It was scooped up after a small amount of chaos (and the possibility of questioning its life choices at the time) by our fearless cub master who sprung into action and created a teaching moment. In the hopes of keeping the little one safe, we took it home to give it a little more wing space and become a country bird.
We woke up this morning to feed the small critter, we have now named Scout, some of the delectable treats we got it last night. Just after opening his/her small 11p newly made habitat, he/she decided that was a wonderful time to show off exactly what it has learned recently in its short life. There was a small calamity as it made its way out of the habitat and just as it cleared the top, it caught air. Managed to slightly braise my face as it went by and then, decided the basement was a wonderful airfield and obstacle course. Once showing off its ability to move freely about the cabin for a few moments, it finally decided a break may be a fabulous idea and landed on a vase on the window.
Moving on to Plan B and attempting feeding it where it sat, it went to take the worm and decided just at that moment… Why stop there? It had a few more tricks it could show off.
So after a few more moments, it finally came to rest on the highest light fixture it found, staking a claim….
Plan C. The attempt to get a little nugget into its belly after all of the aerobics, it finally gladly grabbed the little morsel! And within seconds, proceeded to spit it back out directly into the area of the fixture that may or may not be extremely difficult to get to.
So with a quickness (and slight intimidation of the authority this little one decided it was going to have) I gently cupped it off of the fixture and placed it back into its new habitat. And then promptly closed it before it decided to break out into another aerobics class.
We took the bird and the habitat outside and opened the lid. For a brief moment it stared into my soul, and then clumsily made its way to the garage where it promptly clattered into a bush. Rushing over to the bush to rescue it, it chose to use some avian language I’m not sure was gratitude. Then it promptly took off into the daylight, where after gravity and a few branches down from its initial landing it finally came to rest on one of the highest limbs of an old oak tree.
So in conclusion, this Scout did it’s best and rose to occasion. With a tiny little bit of help, it is now quite independent.

Hopefully we will get to see it soon (when it decides to come down).

A special Thanks to the wonderful lady who donated her Tiki Mug Box to get our friend Scout to it’s new home and to Jeanine Kowalski for the perfectly timed photos 📸!

♻️ A Project Built by Scouts, Supported by a Community, and Dedicated with Love ❤️

Cub Scout Pack 213 is proud to celebrate the successful completion of our Trex® Beyond the Bag Recycling Challenge!

What began as a simple recycling effort quickly became a community-wide project. Our Scouts joined the Trex Beyond the Bag program and, with the help of countless community members, collected and recycled hundreds of pounds of plastic film that otherwise would have ended up in a landfill.

This achievement would not have been possible without the incredible support of so many people and organizations. A special thank you to Luke Kowalski and Pro Trucks for serving as our collection site and helping us gather materials throughout the project. Thank you to the residents of Murrysville, Export, and surrounding communities who enthusiastically contributed to our collection efforts. We are also grateful to Westmoreland Cleanways for accommodating us after hours as we delivered and processed our collected materials.

After reaching our goal, our Scouts worked together to sort, bag, weigh, and deliver the plastic for recycling. As a reward for their hard work and dedication to environmental stewardship, Trex Company provided Pack 213 with a beautiful recycled-material bench.

Rather than keeping the bench for ourselves, Pack 213 chose to donate it back to the community by placing it at Franklin Regional Intermediate School, recognizing the school’s ongoing commitment to our children and community.

The bench now stands as a memorial to Mrs. Barbara Gallucci, a beloved educator, mentor, and friend. Mrs. Gallucci dedicated more than two decades to Franklin Regional, serving as a teacher, department head, curriculum supervisor, club sponsor, and role model to countless students. She was known not only for her commitment to education but also for her kindness, faith, and genuine care for those around her. We were honored to have members of the Gallucci family present for the dedication ceremony as we celebrated her lasting legacy.

Pack 213 would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to:

• Dr. Buffone and Franklin Regional Intermediate School for their support and partnership.
• JA Rutter Co. for generously donating the mulch used to complete the project.
• Our Scouts, parents, and leaders whose hard work, dedication, and service made this project possible.

This bench represents far more than recycled plastic. It represents service, stewardship, teamwork, community partnership, and a lasting tribute to a remarkable educator whose influence will continue to inspire future generations.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this project a success!

Leave Them Alone, they will be hitting the ground any day now. As more people stay home, or are out exploring nearby, the chances of seeing a "lost fawn" increase.

We want to remind you that the fawn is NOT lost or abandoned and is only waiting for Mom to return. Please leave it alone. Do not attempt to relocate, remove or rescue the fawn. Not only is it a bad idea, it's also illegal.

Naturally, the doe will leave her fawn(s) alone for their first few weeks except for brief periods when she is nursing or grooming them. Fawns are protected from predators by lying motionless much of the day with their protective coloration and minimal odor.

Yesterday , members of Cub Scout Pack 213 were honored to participate in Memorial Day services and ceremonies throughout Murrysville, Export, and White Valley as our community came together to remember and honor our fallen heroes who gave their lives in service to our nation.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the White Valley AMVETS, the American Veterans Association, White Valley VFD, Export VFD, the Legion & Moose Riders, and the Memorial Day Parade organizers for inviting our Pack to take part in these meaningful events. It was truly an honor for our Scouts to stand alongside Troop 208, Troop 205, the Girl Scouts of Murrysville, the Franklin Regional Marching Band, Murrysville Police, Medic One, and members of Trail Life as we paid tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

A very special thank you goes to the Women’s Auxiliary of the White Valley AMVETS for providing a wonderful luncheon for our Scouts and their families. Your kindness, generosity, and hospitality were deeply appreciated by everyone in attendance.

Thank you to all who came out today to honor our veterans and remember our fallen heroes. Most of all, thank you to every man and woman who has served and sacrificed for our nation and the freedoms we enjoy each and every day.

God bless you all, our veterans, our active military, and the United States of America. 🇺🇸
