Ursula Mamlok's family fled N**i Germany as refugees in the 1930's, settling first in Ecuador and then in the United States, after the strength of one of Ursula's compositions earned her admission to the Mannes School of Music in New York. Mamlok would go on build a career as an influential teacher and composer in New York, shaping a new generation of composers and creating a varied body of work.
