Despite the rain, it was a wonderful morning of service and remembrance. Members of the Molly Foster Berry Chapter, Cofachique Chapter and Oceanus Hopkins Chapter joined together with members of the Fort Scott and Pittsburg SAR chapters to place flags at the Fort Scott National Historic Site for the Symbols of Sacrifice display. Members may have gotten a little wet, but honoring those who sacrificed for our nation made every minute worthwhile. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

What a beautiful evening of history, music, and remembrance at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons, Kansas ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
Last night, Dave Mattox presented a wonderful program highlighting the GAR Circles and sharing the rich Civil War history connected to Oakwood Cemetery, where nearly 370 Civil War veterans from 22 different states are buried. Throughout the evening, Grits & Grass filled the cemetery with wonderful old tunes that made the night even more special. ๐ŸŽป
The Oceanus Hopkins Chapter, NSDAR was honored to present Dave with the DAR Historic Preservation Recognition Award in recognition of his outstanding dedication to preserving and promoting local history through research, restoration efforts, publications, guided tours, fundraising, and community education. His passion for preserving the stories of Parsons and Labette County continues to make a lasting impact on our community.
Thank you, Dave, for helping keep history alive for future generations ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Yesterday was a banner day at Southeast Middle School! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป
Chapter Regent Mary Gilpin proudly presented Junior American Citizens (JAC) state, district, and national awards during the 8th Grade Awards Assembly. We are so proud of these talented students for sharing their creativity, hard work, and patriotism through the JAC program. Watching our students be recognized was a sparkling reminder that history, art, and citizenship are alive and well in the next generation. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today, the Oceanus Hopkins Chapter, NSDAR celebrates mothers.

We celebrate our members who are mothers, our own mothers, grandmothers, and all of the incredible women who have stepped in with love, strength, guidance, and grace when a mother was needed most. We honor the generations of women who came before us, the storytellers, caretakers, encouragers, and quiet heroes whose lives helped shape who we are today.

Motherhood comes in many forms, and today we celebrate them all. Wishing love to every mother, grandmother, aunt, mentor, caregiver, and mother figure who makes this world softer, stronger, and brighter. ๐ŸŒท
