We are Very excited to have him join us. Here is a little bio on Coach Diego!
Coach Diego Esquivel is a passionate and dedicated soccer coach with a strong defensive background and a lifetime of experience in the game. Born in Jesús María, Aguascalientes, Mexico, in 1995, Diego developed a love for soccer at an early age. His family moved to Los Angeles, California, in 2000, where he spent ten years developing as both a player and a student of the game before relocating to Minnesota in 2010.
Throughout his playing career, Diego competed as a full back, representing Toluca, Halcones, Pachuca USA, Worthington Senior High School, Riverland Community College, and Sioux Falls Thunder. He also competed in numerous high prize money amateur tournaments across the Midwest, gaining valuable experience in highly competitive environments that demanded resilience, composure, and a winning mentality. Known for his defensive awareness, communication, discipline, and relentless work ethic, Diego built his game around leadership, teamwork, and consistency.
As a coach, Diego is committed to helping players grow both on and off the field. He emphasizes technical development, defensive organization, communication, accountability, and a team-first mentality. His coaching philosophy is centered on creating a positive and competitive environment where players can build confidence, improve their tactical understanding, and develop the character needed to succeed in soccer and in life.
Coach Esquivel believes that hard work, discipline, respect, and passion are the cornerstones of every successful team. His mission is to inspire players to reach their full potential while instilling a lifelong love for the beautiful game. Drawing from his experiences competing at the youth, high school, collegiate, semi-professional, and elite amateur levels, he brings valuable insight, professionalism, and a player-centered approach to every training session and match.
