Pinedale Public Art Program

Pinedale Public Art Program The Pinedale Public Art Program (formerly In|site:Ex|site) is the public arts program for Pinedale, This is not reflected in the project budget above.

The public art brought to Pinedale will take the form of temporary and permanent sculptures and murals, installations, ephemeral art, exhibitions, and educational lectures. We strive to support Wyoming and Sublette County artists when possible, while also realizing the importance of having work representing a national and international influence. This not only enhances the stature of our public ar

t programming, but also elevates the status of the other participating artists. In|site:Ex|site includes, but is not limited to, the following individual projects, which are titled with derivations of the parent program name. Ex|Site:Incubate/3D – A public art incubator project which consists of inviting artists to propose and fabricate a site informed public outdoor sculpture to be installed for up to 2 years. This project is moderately budgeted at $6,500 per sculpture, which includes a $1,500 honorarium for the artist upon completion of the project. This project is conceived as a platform for (initially) Wyoming artists who have little or no experience in the public art commissioning process. The selection process is by invitation, through a portfolio review. The invited artist will be contracted and responsible for producing: 1) a professional proposal, including a written project overview, drawings and/or maquettes, timeline, and budget, 2) fabrication of proposed sculpture, 3) delivery and help installing his or her sculpture, 4) a public gallery talk/slide presentation, 5) completion of a final report at the conclusion of the project. Disbursement of funds are as follows: $500 for producing a proposal, $2,250 upon design approval, $2,250 at mid point of fabrication, $1,500 upon completion and approval of final report. Concrete pads will be provided by the VAC at pre-approved locations with in the community. Pads may range in size from 3’ square to 6’ square by 6” thick and will include steel imbed plates for attaching sculptural elements. The average size of the current pads is 4’ square by 6” thick. A budget item of $1000 for each, is earmarked for use by the committee to help with installation, marketing, reception, and nameplate costs for each sculpture produced. Ex|Site:Incubate/2D - A public art incubator project which consists of inviting artists to propose and execute a site informed public outdoor mural to be installed for up to 2 years. This project is moderately budgeted at $5,000, which includes a $1,000 honorarium for the artist upon completion of the project. The invited artist will be contracted and responsible for producing: 1) a professional proposal, including a written project overview, drawings and/or maquettes, timeline, and budget, 2) ex*****on of proposed mural, 3) a public gallery talk/slide presentation, 4) completion of a final report at the conclusion of the project. Disbursement of funds are as follows: $500 for producing a proposal, $1,500 upon design approval, $1,500 at mid point of project timeline, $1,000 upon completion and approval of final report. The VAC will provide a substrate (vinyl banner material, sailcloth, ect.), which will be attached to a permanent billboard-like substrate. The moderate size (8’ x 12’)??? encourages artists who have little or no experience working on an exterior monumental scale. It also allows artists to enhance their studio practice by producing public art. A budget item of $1000 for each, is earmarked for use by the committee to help with installation, marketing, reception, and nameplate costs for each mural produced. In|Site:Install - A public art incubator project which consists of inviting artists to propose and fabricate a site informed interior installation in a public building to be installed for up to 1 year. This project is moderately budgeted at $4,000 per installation, which includes a $1,000 honorarium for the artist upon completion of the project. This project is conceived as a platform for (initially) Wyoming artists who do not have experience in the public art commissioning process. The invited artist will be contracted and responsible for producing: 1) a professional proposal, including a written project overview, drawings and/or maquettes, timeline, and budget, 2) fabrication and installation of proposed project, 3) a public gallery talk/slide presentation, 4) completion of a final report at the conclusion of the project. Disbursement of funds are as follows: $500 for producing a proposal, $1,500 upon design approval, $1,000 at mid point of project timeline, $1,000 upon completion and approval of final report. Ex|Site:365 – A temporary rotating sculpture program which consists of contracting artists for existing outdoor friendly sculpture for one year. Invited artists will receive a $1,000 honorarium to help with transportation costs. Installation will be in May of each year. A public reception for the artists will be included. Ex|Site:3D – A permanent commissioned site-specific sculpture project. The committee has the right to reissue the RFQ if applications or proposals are inadequate for the vision of the project. Up to 3 artists will receive a $1,000 honorarium to produce a proposal. The selection committee will choose one proposal as a finalist. The artist will then be contracted to produce the proposed sculpture. Budget, timelines, and scope of the commission will unique to each project. Ex|Site:2D – A permanent commissioned site-specific mural project. Up to 3 artists will receive a $500 honorarium to produce a proposal. The artist will then be contracted to produce and execute the proposed mural. Ex|Site:Cabochon – an annual artist designed medallion project. The artist will receive a $500 honorarium for his or her design. Preference will be given to artists residing in Sublette County and the state of Wyoming. The selection process will be by official entry form, which will include a space for design overview and a thumbnail sketch. The selected artist will then develop an official final design. The VAC will provide for the design to be translated into a 3D relief model, which will be molded and cast in bronze. The VAC reserves the right to reproduce small-scale replicas for fundraising efforts to help support it’s ongoing public arts programs.
